ASSEMBLING YOUR CAKE 1 Insert dowels into the cake, positioned evenly spaced in the shape of a square. Push them down firmly to the cakeboard. Our illustrative guides will help you build your cake for your big day. Order dowels, pillars and polystyrene blocks on the order form at the back of this brochure. (Many cakes come with dowels; see individual cake descriptions .)
