    Book Exchange

    Our monthly bookexchange took place

    Tuesday, February 3rdafter school in ourcourtyard. It is a delightto our parents andadministration to seethe enthusiasm of ourstudents as they browsefor their books.

    We ask that yourchildren bring booksthey have already readand are willing to swapand place them in any ofthe bins located in frontof the classrooms.Please remember thatthis is a FREE event andis open to all studentsregardless whether ornot he or she has

    Playground Improvements

    An example of your PTA dues at work, note that the damaged playground slideas well as the foam on the Pre-K playground was just replaced. In addition, a bigthank-you to Zaven Daigian for donating time and materials towards the paintingof the playground.

    KZV Calendar - Parents who have not receivedthe 2009 KZV calendar are welcome to pick up acopy from the school office. The calendar issent to the St. Gregory Armenian Church mailing

    Birthday Bulletins After a short hiatus, thePTA Birthday Bulletin Board will be back inMarch. Thank you to Mrs. Rene Avanessian forher wonderfully creative efforts acknowledgingthe monthly birthdays of our students. It is reallya treat for our students!

    Sister School Luncheon Fundraiser - Thankyou to all the KZV moms and communitymembers who attended the KZV sister schoolluncheon fundraiser on January 24th . Ourcommunity was able to raise more than $2,500 forour sister school in Oshagan, Armenia. Thismoney will go toward the project just completedto get running water to the school. In addition in2009, the funds will purchase some classroomsupplies for the school such as white boards andmaps. Many, many thanks again for yourcontinued support as well as to the committee

    members whose efforts make this possible:Hasmig Samurkashian, Caroline Aristakessian,and Vera Balushian.

    Grandparents Day at KZVwill be held onWednesday, May 13th. Please mark your calendars

    and invite the grandparents to join us foractivities in their honor.The PTA will providea special luncheon for that day.

    Hye Em Yes Camp will take placeJuly 6th -10th under the continuing direction of AnnieBavoukian. The camp is a great way to keep

    up with your friends over the summer andhave fun meeting new people. Please markyour calendars.

    Dues and Fees Reminder Together withyour $30 per family PTA fee, the second halfof the Hot Lunch payment is already due. Atyour earliest convenience please drop off yourpayment in the PTA box located in the schooloffice. Statements will be sent out shortly.

    Hot Lunch The February Hot Lunch menuhas been posted on the PTA bulletin boardand is also available on-line atwww.KZV.org.Please note that the menu will rotate the Top

    Ten favorite meals of our students a few ofour new dishes which we tried out earlier inthe year did not fare very well, and were thusremoved. We apologize for a somewhatroutine menu, however our goal is toaccommodate the tastes of as many of ourstudents as possible.

    8th Grade Pizza The 8th Grade pizza lunchFridays are as follows: March 27th, April 17th,May 22nd, June 12th. Look out for the e-mailreminders from the 8th grade parents.

    to give away to someone who you thinkwill use it. Simply swipe the card everytime you make a purchase at LuckySupermarkets. After an unanticipateddelay, these cards have been scheduledto arrive shortly.

    Artwork for Education Under the direction of SevannaPanossian along with the coordinationof our art instruction, Mrs. NanorEkmejjian, our school took part in theArtwork for Education project. Most ofyou have already received the orders foryour childs artwork, however pleaseremember that this is a continuingfundraiser.     Sees Chocolates Spring

    Fundraiser - Our Easter chocolatesale will soon be under way. The PTAfundraising coordinator, Mrs. JoyceNazarethian will be distributing theflyers and order forms for this program.If you are interested in participating andpurchasing Sees Easter Chocolates foryour family and friends, please takeadvantage of this opportunity to helpour school. Order forms will also beavailable in the school office.
