Dear families,
Celebrating UAE culture and heritage week
We have been carrying out many activities learning about the culture and heritage of the
UAE this week, culminating in our first ever Aspen Heights National Day assembly. The
children were amazing- colourful, proud and collaborative. Special thanks goes to our
amazing Arabic team- in particular Mrs Basma. The Aspen ‘heritage village’ was fun and
informative; thank you to our wonderful Aspen mothers: Haneen Tamimi, Fatima Al Ketbi,
Mariam Al Humairi, Yana Zibolenova, Samira Al Qattami , Donne Nyman , Fatima Al
Zarooni, Fatime Maani and Layla Al Hammadi who all contributed to making the day so
special. Martyrs day
As we will not be at school tomorrow for the martyrs day minute of silent prayer at 11.30,
children and staff at Aspen Heights noted this minute of respect in front of the flag on
Tuesday 28th November.

Staff well-being week
Our hardworking staff took part in a variety of well-being activities before and after school!
The superfood workshop was inspiring, and we all enjoyed a Zumba class led by Ms.
Ranny! We would not have achieved so much in such a short time without the hard work
and dedication of our staff- please show your appreciation by writing a note to a member of
our staff on this staff wellbeing padlet- a few words of appreciation go a long way! Thank
you.

Active week
Next week is an ‘active week’ at Aspen with a variety of sporting and active events planned
across the week. Please support by encouraging your child to complete their active
homework- carrying out some physical activity after school and recording in the grid in their
homework books. We will be starting every morning with a ‘wake and shake’ in the
playground- feel free to join in!
The World Health Organisation states that every child needs 60 minutes of exercise every
day to be healthy. We are will be running activities throughout the week to encourage the
students to be active. Here is an overview of some of the activities planned.

your children from school.
Please encourage your children to take part in 60 minutes of activity every afternoon to
help them complete their active homework.
Please note that all students should wear their PE uniform on Tuesday and Wednesday,
aswell as their normal PE days. We hope you enjoyed sharing the National day celebrations with us. Have a wonderful long
National Day holiday weekend, and we look forward to seeing you bright and early at 7.45
