ANALYSIS AND FINDINGS

PROLOGUEBAMBOO MATERIALS

- Grow in an abundance South America, Africa , South East Asia and etc

- One of the oldest construction materials

- Based on the Indian word ‘Mambu’

- Come with unique green and brownish colour of stem, branch and leaves

- The term bamboo describes all tree- or bushlike grasses having a durable woody or branched

stem.

- Contrary to wood, the bamboo have a hard outer surface and is soft inside.

PROLOGUEBAMBOO MATERIALS PROPERTIES: -

FIRE RESISTANCE – Good Fire Resistors due to high content of silicate acid. It can stand up to a

to a temperature up to 400 degree Celcius.

ELASTICITY – The enormous elasticity of bamboo makes it to a very good building material

for earth-quake endangered areas.

TRANSPORTATION – Its light in weight and can be transport easily for construction and

architecture.

RECEPTION AREA OF BELUM RAINFOREST RESORT AREAWELCOME AREA AND SPACE FOR VISITORS TO CHECK IN FOR STAY IN BELUM RAINFOREST RESORT

- Welcome Area for Guests and

Visitors.

- Give Unique First Impression due to

colours and type of plants

- Act as Wall, Columns, Roof and

Decoration in the space.

RESPONSIVE DESIGNBelum Rainforest Resort Area existed due to attract nature and community together

CONCEPT: -

BALANCE OF NATURE AND MAN

“we interviewed an architect and he explained that most of the concept in

Belum Rainforest Resort Area is between Nature and Man. Their

intention is to make greeneries combine with the building to create

responsive design between architecture and nature.

As for Bamboo materials in Belum Rainforest Resort

Area. It also contributes to responsive design as they

benefits to architecture, ventilation and comfortability

to users there.

SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTUREBamboo materials contributed most in sustainable architecture due to its benefit and advantages.

BENEFITS OF BAMBOO MATERIALS: -

1. Cooling system efficiency

2. Sustainable and Renewable Building Materials

3. Thermal Comfort to the users in the space

4. Multipurpose act to every construction in architecture e.g (wall,

roof, floor and etc)

CASE STUDY FOR BAMBOO MATERIALS

TROPICAL

CLIMATE

BAMBOO

MATERIALS

BUILDING

CONSTRUCTION

- Most bamboo species grow at

temperatures from 28°C to +50°C

- The main area of distribution are the

tropics, in particular, South-East-Asia.

- - Bamboo grow at sea level and can be

found at altitudes of up to 3800 m.

Every research and findings been gathered with case studies

CASE STUDY FOR BAMBOO MATERIALS BAMBOO GROWTH

- Bamboo can easily be grown up to 35 inches within 24 hours in 0.00003 km/h.

- Growth rate of new shoots (height grown per day) is dependent on a number of

factors: -

- species

- location grown

- temperature

- rainfall/ground moisture content

- nutrient availability

- size/maturity of planting

- etc

TREES AND BAMBOOS

DIFFERENCES GRAPH

- Bamboo produce more O2 rather than trees

- Bamboo retain more water than trees

- Bamboo absorb Carbon Dioxide better than trees
