One year work report of 5 ‘Play Schools” (Learning Centers) These five villages inhabited by the ‘Kondh’ tribal and all the villages are non- accessible and remote. All the five villages are situated in forest lands and village farmers depend on forest land cultivation and their main occupation is cultivation and collecting minor forest produce. These 5 villages part of G.Madugula and Chinthapalli Mandal and spread in three panchayeits. One school in Solabam Panchayeti and this was shifted to Korapalli Panchayiti, another one in Gaduthuru and two in Vanajari Panchayeti. Out 5, one school in Mondikota (Solabam Gp) was stopped in the month of August 2016, duo to teacher withdrawn from job with personal problems and we shifted to Thotalagondi village of Korapalli Panchayiti. The school in Chimalapadu village of Kitumula Panchayiti of Chinthapalli Mandal was stopped in July 2016. All the teachers are belongs to Kondh tribal community and their education background inter. Pangi Raju: Pangi Raju, belongs to Anavaram village and Panchayeti of Chinthapalli completed inter and worked as supervisors to the schools. Raju also a Kondh tribal. Raju worked up January 2017 as supervisor. With our support he wrote Law (for 5 years) entrance and got seat in AU law college. From April 2017 onwards we are taking Sedari Srinivas, belongs to Kondh tribal and completed Inter resident of Ganugurole of G.Madugula Mandal.

One year work report of 5 ‘Play Schools” (Learning Centers)

These five villages inhabited by the ‘Kondh’ tribal and all the villages are non- accessible and remote. All the five villages are situated in forest lands and village farmers depend on forest land cultivation and their main occupation is cultivation and collecting minor forest produce.

8 days training to Teachers:

After the selection of volunteers in the April the went to village and introduced to the community and children. Volunteers conducted village level meeting and motivated the community to build schools for their children. In the Month of May all the teachers went to Chipurupalli village of Vijayanagaram

district to take 8 days training program from ‘SODANA’ organization. SODANA prepared

a manual for ‘play schools’. In 8 days teachers learned to use the manual in their schools.

1.Mulagaruvu of Vanajari GP of G.Madugula Mandal :

Vanthala Narayana tribal youth studied Inter working as teacher volunteers in this school. The total children enrolled in this school 8. All the children are the first generation of learners in their families. No government school in this village. Some younger age students were joined by their parents in tribal residentially school and the current attendance went down to 5 .

All the children learned more than 15 songs with action (Abinaya Geyalu- అబినయ గేయాలు). They learned

numbers up to 2000 and they can do single line additions, subtraction. The children learned children learned Telugu and English alphabets, able to read

small words of Telugu and English. The average working days of the school is 20 per month. Children also practicing copy writing of telugu and English.

2. Mulametta of Vanajari GP of G.Madugula Manda:

Mulametta is a non- accessible kondh village in Vanajari Panchayeti of G.Madugula Mandal. Korra Paparao a kondh youth who studied 10nth working as teacher volunteer. The total registration of the children 22 and out of this 12 are girls. The average attendance to the school is 20. The teacher divided kinds in three groups. A group

children learned Telugu and English alphabets. They will read and write up to 25 numbers and do one lines additions, subtractions (the A group children are 5, 2 boys and 3 girls). B group kinds learned off the Telugu and English alphabets and they can recognize numbers up to 15.( ‘B’ group children total 4, 2 boys and 2 girls) C group children are little kids just they will come and play in the school (they are 12, 6 boys and 6 girls).

For this school first we appointed K.Venkatarao as volunteer and send to the teacher training program too. Because of his health problems he withdrawn and Mr Paparao was taken charge from January 2017. Paparao not atteneded teacher training program by Sodana and we are

planning to send him this year. The children of this school will sing and act more than 6 songs (Abinaya geyalu) and the average school working days 18.

3.Adathigala of Vanajari GP of G.Madugula Mandal:

Adathigala village part of Vanajari Panchayeti of G.Madugula Mandal and the village did not have connectivity and one should go by walk to reach this village. Since April 2016 Pangi Chiranjive , inter completed young boy belongs to the same village working as teacher

volunteer. The registered number of students in this school 22. The average attendance of children is 17. Teacher divided students in three (A,B,C) groups according to their learning stages. So for the A group kids learned Telugu and English alphabets. Some Telugu consonant letters. This group kids read and write 250 numbers and do two line math’s (additions and subtractions). This group consisting two girl children. The B group children Telugu alphabets and some of the English alphabets too. This group will read and write up to 30 numbers and this group consisting boys three, girls 4. The C group children are little kids.

A and B group children sing and dance (Abhinaya Gegalu) up to 10. The average working days of the school is 20.

4. Mondikota / Thotalagondi of Korapalli GP of G.Madugula:

In Modikota village of Solabam Panchayeti of G.Madugula Mandal we start a school in 2015 up to 2016 August Mr Seedari Chinnarao (a kondh tribal youth) worked as teachers volunteer. Aasha supported this school from April 2016. Because of his personal problems (he is only son to the family and not able to do the agricultural work) he left the school in first week of August of 2016. We are not able to find a suitable persons to continue the school. in August we shift the school to Thotalagondi of Korapalli Panchayeti. Mr. V.Vengalarao, a local kondh tribal youth started school from December 2016.

The registered students in the school are 15 and average attendance is 12. A group children completed Telugu and English alphabets the can read small word in Telugu and English. This group learned numbers up to 35 and they can do single line additions and subtractions. The B group children also completed alphabets in

Telugu and English and they can read numbers up to 20. The average working days of the school is 18 days per month. Most of the children will sing and play ‘Abinaya geyalu’ more than 10.

5. Chimalapadu of Kitumula Panchayeti of Chinthapalli Mandal:

We started this school in April 2015 and continued up to July 2016. Mr. Narasingarao ( a young kondh ) worked as teacher volunteer because of his personal problems he left the school. we are not able to identify a suitable person and not able to continue the school.

August 15, 2016 and January 26th 2017:

In four schools, August 15 – August 15 and January 26 republic day celebration was conducted.

August 15, 2016 at Mullumetta.

Flash mob at Vishakhapatnam:

On 14th November 2016, as national children day nearly 70 kondh children from this seven learning centers and ten more learning centers visited Vishakapatanam. First time they physically see the train and traveled from Anakapalli to Vishakhapatnam by train. After they reach, they went to Kailasagir and watched the sea (first time experience). At evening all the children reached RK Beach and conducted ‘flash mob’ ( preforming Abinayageyalu) in the open air beach. Many people observed the kondh children performance and they appreciated them.

Practicing copy writing:

We identified elder children from each school and they are encouraged to write copy writing in Telugu and English.

Performance in public events:

We encourage children to performer their song / dance whenever there is a public events in their village and surrounding areas, this will give confidence to the chider.

Black Boards:

In the month of November 2016, some youth from Hyderabad under leadership of Mr. Purushotham and other collected nearly 20 black boards to the schools. The team members visited along with boards to school village and interacted with students, teachers and villagers. Some

individual donating contribution to the schools and with those donations we are able to buy some TLM (teachers learning material). Sri Malathi (K.Balagopal sister) gave Rs 5000, Sri L.Malliki Rs 5000, Ch. Ravi Rs 2000.

Acton plan to 2017-2018:

This year (2017-2018) we are planning to introduce some more reading and writing material and we are taking help of Educationalist and fonder of Little Oxford school of Anakapalli. Across the 17 schools we identified 110 children for upgrade learning.
