CHANGE OUR LIVES

In today’s first reading, Jonah, sent by God to warn the people, storms through Nineveh, frightening the citi-zens out of their wits. It works! They repent before Jonah makes his way through a third of the city, and God sees “by their actions” how they have turned from evil. Then we hear Paul telling the Corinthians that “the world in its present form is passing away.” He calls for a change of heart. He stops short of telling them to set aside their everyday lives, but still he urges them—rather mys-teriously—to live as though they aren’t doing the things they’re doing. Finally, Jesus stands on the shore and cries, “The kingdom of God is at hand!” The apostles-to-be abandon their nets and follow him. Thus in all the readings we hear an invitation to a radical and immediate change in our lives. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

CAMBIEMOS NUESTRAS VIDAS

Instagram: Photo and Video Posting Dangers for Young People:

Teens and tweens frequently post photos online using their cell phones. One of the most popular mobile appli-cations (apps) for photo sharing is called Instagram…

Instagram allows members to digitally edit, upload and share photos and short videos with other members through the Insta-gram website, email, and other social media sites such as Face-book, Twitter, Foursquare, Tumbler, and Flickr—all with a single click. The biggest danger for young people is that the photos and videos that they are posting on Instagram are acces-sible to countless unintended viewers…which means the im-ages can be viewed by anyone in the world. WHERE WE GOT THE BIBLE

DID THE CATHOLIC CHURCH TRY TO STOP DISSEMINATION OF THE BIBLE IN LUTHER'S TIME? That’s why the Church put so much labor into making copies and making the copies

available to the people in their own languages and in public places as we said above. Indeed. at the time of the Reforma-tion there were 14 translations of the Bible in German alone, all authorized and approved by the Catholic Church. In addition, the Church had also approved 11 Italian, 10 French, and 2 Bohemian translations. and one Flemish and one Russian translation. The Catholic Church did all it could to prevent corrupted translations from spreading. The sole purpose was to assure that people would know the Work of God and not that of mere men, just as today people reject the Jehovah’s Witness New World Translation.
