During the day their main atrium space is the milling area for customers using the banking facilities, whilst in the evening the space needed to be used to host various different events including presentations, exhibitions, dining, catwalk shows and live bands for as many as 400 people. As well as providing AV excellence within the atrium area, the bank wanted to provide an easy to use solution for servicing their meeting and conference rooms with minimal disruption. They had a vision of a service whereby the client could place their refreshment order from a meeting room and it would be delivered within 5 minutes. The project requirement was for exceptional AV and hospitality that was automatic, maintenance-free and easy-to-use, ensuring minimal disruption for everybody visiting and using the banking facilities. Solution The areas within the bank were very much dated and cramped, and the bank wanted to adopt solutions that were automatic, maintenance-free and easy to use.

    Focusing on the main atrium event space, the desire was to have an eye catching display and focal point. The screen needed to deliver vibrant colours even in the high ambient light environment, and be mounted at height. Installing the 5.25 x 3 metre wall with 28 Absen AI03 3.9mm ultra-fine pixel pitch LED panels met the challenging requirements of the project. The wall, which was 7:4 aspect ratio and created a stunning 236” diagonal wall in high definition at 1344 x 768 resolution, was fitted on to the custom mounting frame. With the added benefits of its set-up, versatility, high brightness and visibility, designed for 24/7 usage, fully front service and installation ensuring no rear access is needed at any stage of the product life cycle, made this the perfect solution.

    Another key benefit of LED as a technology is it delivers a truly seamless, bezel free display, ensuring there is no disruption to content being showcased, making it ideal for an installation in such a prestigious location where the stunning display would create a media source to broadcast financial and world news to visitors, during the day as well as being used in the evening for presentations, shows, videos or anything the client wants to display.

    The atrium area of the Listed Building had some unique challenges - which included a marble floor with restrictions on coring. Single Mode Fiber was used as the primary transport method which meant that cable routes between the space and the head end system had to be low level through the underground car park and via a patching frame at the midway point.

    To further support the atrium area as a truly multi-functional event space, VEGA created a customised acrylic lectern that is portable yet light-weight. Offering a flexible solution for presentations and events, the bespoke lectern can be relocated to any floorbox within the atrium. Alongside the impressive microphone, audio processing and speaker equipment, additional source input points provide an adaptable space for multiple use cases, from basic daytime use to large scale events.

    The control interfaces were designed and programmed to create a simple and intuitive system that was suitable for non-technical users, but also provided sufficient depth of control for more experienced users. Different user profiles were inputted to suit the level of experience, with the basic day-to-day functionality being fully automated and more advanced functions being password protected.

    Wall-mounted LED display devices were also fitted in the client banking and lounge areas, with signal delivered via the DigitalMedia system solution which was selected as the head end control system, thanks to its flexibility and reliability.

    For the client lounge and client banking area, VEGA worked with the client to develop a new and innovative service called Tio, Service Delivery Intelligence. A hospitality request system which helps meetings run smoothly with fewer interruptions, guests can use Tio to order refreshments using iPad Mini’s. This familiar and intuitive interface displays menu options for drinks, snacks and other refreshments, making ordering easy. An audible and visible alert is received in the kitchen and staff send an acknowledgement via the touch screen panel directly back to the meeting room.

    The Tio service speeds up the delivery process and eradicates order errors, taking the average order-to-delivery time down from 15 minutes to an average of less than two minutes. The award winning Tio system can record all relevant statistics for reporting and also has the facility to request AV support.
