WHY MENOS+

• Increase the spectral efficiency of TV and FNG services, enabling:

• More channels or

• Higher quality using the existing bandwidth

• APT5000 operates on MPEG4, increasing efficiency. MPEG2 supported.

• Introduction of new tooling developed by Newtec on the new systems:

• IMS for enhancing NOC operational aspects

• Improved File Exchange with drop folder techniques:

• Allows easy file transmissions without explicit session booking.

• Improved booking workflows

MENOS+ FOR THE MEMBERS – RF IMPROVEMENTS

New transport system on MENOS+

• Introduction of Mx-DMA HRC:

• Combines features of MF-TDMA and DVB-S2 into a new modulation

scheme

• Ensures MF-TDMA flexibility with DVB-S2 efficiency

• Support for multiple RF access technologies. Each access technology is

optimized for specific service:

• HRC Mx-DMA for SD TV and FNG

• DVB-S2 for HD TV

• Possibility of switching between access technologies.

• AUPC/ACM for FNG and SD TV for better spectral efficiency

• Mesh HD confidence monitoring possibilities (reception of own

transmission)

MENOS+ FOR THE MEMBERS – TERMINAL IMPROVEMENTS

Introduction of APT5000• No extra learning required. The transmission workflows remain equivalent• Extended functionalities of the services compared to MENOS (ex File Exchange, mesh

video)• Ability to exchange more HD content (more HD channels)• Ability to increase the quality of HD (up to 15 Mbps)• Ability to operate on MPEG4; MPEG2 still supported• Lower transmission latency for sports on HD mesh transmissions (around 300ms)• 5% cheaper terminals compared to MN426 (MENOS HD)• Less complex ODU, simpler RF installation and maintenance• Double local storage capacity compared to MN426

New possibilities for FNG transmissions:• Efficiency improvements due to Mx-DMA HRC efficiencies• Possibility for better quality FNG transmissions• Higher FNG throughputs (up to 5 Mbps) possible• Low integration efforts (single modem, single BUC)

• MENOS+ HD TV terminal (“APT5000“)

• Single-modem approach

• Optimized HD transmission in MESH mode, star SD in MENOS+ transmissions remain possible

• Reduced bandwidth usage and lowest delay in MESH mode

• Fully MPEG2 capable for RX and TX

• Fully MPEG4 capable for RX and TX
