Progresses in Automobile Technique

Due to the continuous advancement of automobile and engine technique, the automobile and engine have made a rapid progress in the electronic control, informational communication and other aspects under various effects such as social pressure, supporting technique and manufacturers’ self-endeavor. As a result, the automobile is transformed from the past mechanical system to the mechanical & electronic system, which not only improves the performances of automobiles distinctly but also extends the controlling function of automobile sufficiently.

Page 4: As-T-T022 S11 Body Electric System

Requirements of Professional Technique

What is accompanying, however, is more and more complicated and also delicate structure and rationale of automobiles and engines. Therefore, it is required that the automobile service technicians should have solid and extensive basis of knowledge and capacity, persist in lifelong study consciously, enhance technical level and assimilatenew knowledge continuously, reinforce professional requirements constantly and prolong their own occupational life.

Diagnosis Flow

Run the system under all modes. Confirm that the system can function normally under all conditions. Make sure that no new troubles are arisen due to carelessness during the diagnosis and repair process.

Step 6Repair or replace the trouble electrical circuits and units.Step 5

Check the system for twisted wiring, loosened connectors or damaged circuits.Determine the circuits and units that related to the trouble and conduct analysis based on the power supply circuit and harness layout.

Step 4

Collect the suitable diagnosis materials, including:lPower supply electrical circuitslSystem use instructionlCorresponding parts in the repair manuallRefer to repair notificationDetermine from where to start the operation based on the customer’s narration and your mastered knowledge.

Step 3

Run the system; conduct the road test if necessary.Determine the trouble parametersIf fails to reproduce the trouble, please refer to the “trouble simulation test”

Step 2

Open circuitWhen a certain part is on-state in the circuit, it is an open circuit.

Short circuit

There are two forms of short-circuit.

Short-circuit caused by earthing

Short-circuit caused by connection Normal resistance is changed due to the contact of one circuit with another circuit.

A wire contacts with the earth wire and the circuit is earthed.

Page 29: As-T-T022 S11 Body Electric System

OutlineCharacteristics

The automobile theft-deterrent control system integrates the theft-deterrent device, the electric doors and windows as well as the central lock control module to perform the centralized monitoring. When the lock button on the remote control is pressed, the central control lock system is locked into the lock catch. When the system enters an alarm state, the glass windows of devices and doors will rise automatically to avoid that the user forgets to close them, which will facilitate users’ use so that they need not worry about rain, wind and theft, etc.

Theft-deterrent by remote control• This theft-deterrent by remote control adopts the dual-key style: one key for deterrent setting, the

other for release;• deterrent-setting state: When the first key on the remote control is pressed, the automobile clearance

lamp flickers once and the central control lock is locked automatically. At the same time, the engine is locked; the LED flickers slowly; and the display system is in a deterrent state. If the system is triggered, the clearance lamp will flicker and the alarm speaker will give an alarm;

• Release of deterrent setting: When the second key on the remote control is pressed, the clearance lamp flickers twice and the central control lock is unlocked. At the same time, the engine lock is released and the LED indicator blacks out;

• Deterrent release by two steps: When the system is in a triggered state, the alarm sound can stop by pressing any key on the remote control, with the system in a deterrent state and the door still locked; if the system receives any further invasion signal, the alarm will be given out after a short pause. To release the deterrent totally, the second key should be pressed once immediately after the deterrent is released for the first time;

Page 30: As-T-T022 S11 Body Electric System

To release the deterrent totally, the second key should be pressed once immediately after the deterrent is released for the first time;

Page 31: As-T-T022 S11 Body Electric System

Functions• Theft-deterrent again: If both door and ignition switch are not

turned on within 30 seconds after the deterrent is released, the theft-deterrent device will restore its deterrent state automatically and lock the door;

• Auto-locking/unlocking function: The door will be locked automatically 5 seconds later after the ignition switch is turned on and be unlocked automatically after the ignition switch is turned off. If the door is opened within 5 seconds after the ignition switch is turned on, the system will not be locked automatically in order to avoid that the driver is kept out of his/her automobile;

• Window closing by remote control: If the glass windows are not closed at the deterrent state, the glass window regulator will function automatically to lift the glass windows to the ceiling in turn for work;

Troubles in Door Contact Switch

• If the alarm speaker is always sounding and the turn signal lamp is always flickering, it indicates that the theft-deterrent is triggered. In this case, please check whether the earthing signals of left front, left rear, right front and right rear door switches have been input into the No. B14 terminal of the theft-deterrent computer, whether the earthing signals of door switch of luggage boot have been input into the No. B11 terminal of the theft-deterrent computer, and whether all switches can be turned on/off normally; moreover, please inspect and repair the place where a trouble occurs. If the switches and connection are Ok, please replace the theft-deterrent computer.

Problem DetectionIs it attributed to the damaged remote control or the module?

Is the failed central control lock is attributed to the left front cotter or the module?

1 Test the remote control first To replace it for a mechanical damageTo match (in two kinds of methods)If it is still failed, please inspect and detect the power earth of fuse moduleIf it is still failed (check whether other functions of the module are normal), please replace the module

Pull the pull rod by hand to test its flexibility and control it with the remote control. If both are Ok, please inspect and detect the triggering connection from the cotter to the module. If the connection is normal, the problem consists in the cotter.

If it is normal to pull the pull rod but it is failed to control it with the remote control, please check whether the remote control is normal (refer to the previous steps); otherwise, replace the module.

Concept & Function

ABS, the abbreviation for “Anti-lock Brake System”, is composed of such main components as hydraulic assembly, computer and wheel speed sensor besides the components of traditional brake system. Its function is to ensure that the automobile can obtain an optimum stopping distance and have an excellent brake stability as well as steering performance despite the road condition.

Calibration

• These instruments are calibrated by working staff or video cameras in order to meet users’requirements and the VDO Standard. On-line programme can be performed for instruments to save the calibration data and to correct any error induced by the pointer position and the parameters of elements.

Troubles• Trouble phenomena• After the engine runs, the water temperature rises, but the pointer of water

temperature indicator doesn't give any indication.• 2) Trouble causes• (1) Damaged water temperature indicator• (2) Failed water temperature sensor• (3) Open circuit of water temperature indicator• (4) Trouble in the instrument unit

• Troubleshooting• Pull out the water temperature sensor connector to check whether the circuit

is open between the jack of water temperature sensor connector (yellow/red wire) and the jack 23 of combination instrument connector. If the above circuit is normal, please check whether the yellow/red wire of water temperature sensor connector is electriferous. In case it is electriferous, it indicates that the water temperature sensor is damaged; if it is not electriferous, it indicates that there is a trouble in the water temperature indicator itself or the instrument unit.

Definition of CircuitOpen circuit: The current circuit is interrupted at a certain point

in the circuit. After an open circuit occurs, one or more electric loads can not function any longer in the circuit.

Short circuit: The load is bypassed accidentally. The current always pass through the circuit with the smallest resistance, soa short circuit will induce higher current so as to heat the protective devices or the connecting wires in the circuit

Earth: The earth state is similar to the short circuit state under which one loaded current is bypassed accidentally in the circuit. The difference consists in the direct connection with the power cathode via the frame earth circuit at the time of earth.

Conclusion

• Through the specific analyses of the circuit of all Chery S11 models, we have learnt and mastered the thought and method to analyze the electric system as well as the circuit system diagram, and furthermore, we have practiced and grasped the troubleshooting flow, comprehended the function and significance of each step in the maintenance & diagnosis flow and been proficient in application.
