Day 4: Monday, July 13, 2020 Oslo - Flåm Heading north of Norway’s capital, enter the majestic and unique landscapes of the fjord region. Visit

the Borgund Stave Church, an awe-inspiring building dedicated in honor of the Apostle Andrew in 1180. Continue to the quaint village of Flåm, your gateway to the grandeur of Aurlandsfjord. Traverse the terrain on the renowned Flåm Railway, one of the steepest train rides in the world, and climb 3,000 feet past rushing waterfalls, looming mountains, and picturesque valleys. Admire the scenery along the mountain plateau of Myrdal before descending into the fjord of Flåm. (B, D)

Day 5: Tuesday, July 14, 2020 Flåm - Loen Immerse yourself in the striking nature of the Sognefjord before traversing the Briksdal Glacier. Surrounded by thundering waterfalls and towering mountains, the glacier is considered to be one of the most awe-inspiring in all of Norway. Climb the glacier in a traditional “troll” car (the park’s open-air vehicles), and arrive for a relaxing stay in Loen, a welcoming village situated in the heart of Norway’s fjord region. (B, D)

Experience It! Norwegian Fjords The evolution of the fjords began some three million years ago, when Norway was covered by an ice cap thinner along the coast than inland. With the arrival of a milder climate, the ice began to melt and produce great waterfalls that logged the soil and descended to the sea. Valleys were filled in by the ocean, creating the fjords. Surrounded now by steep rocky mountains, dissected by cascading waterfalls, and decorated with thriving fruit trees, the fjords are among Earth's most inspiring landscapes. Marvel at the beauty of the Gullfoss (Golden Falls) waterfall, a stunning 100-foot double cascade. Journey to Thingvellir National Park, the nation’s most historic area. Here, Icelanders gathered in A.D. 930 and established what is considered to be one of the world’s first parliaments. Find yourself standing upon one of the globe’s most geologically significant landscapes, Thingvellir’s rugged rift valley (UNESCO) that marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, the point where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. Bergen The Tastes of Bergen $80 USD Come to know the flavors of Bergen on a locally guided, food sampling tour. Visit a host of local cafes, markets, bakeries and historic buildings while hearing about Norwegian and Bergen food traditions and specialties.
