 The film is long 2 and a quarter hours – potential why itgot mixed reviews. 

  Was a commercial failure at the British box office,

making only £6.1 million in its first twelve weeks, less

than a quarter of its over £30 million production cost.

  Curtis deleted approximately twenty minutes of footage

from the original UK version to address complaints from

several critics that the film's running time was excessive.

  Generally mixed reviews.

  60% approval rating on Rotten Tomatos (149 Reviews)

  Daily Telegraph said the film had “some magical

moments” but called it “muddled” and critised itslength.

  Time Out was critical of the films length.

  Hollywood Reporter – “Rock n Roll movie Boat just

  Channel 4 – “touching”, “heartfelt” and an “enjoyable

 journey”. 

  Andrew Neil from The Observer remarked that he was
