In terms of the Mise-en-scene using correct clothing which relates to the genre and using props, such as sunglasses and the headphones etc help generate a atmosphere which then means that the magazine is easily identifiable as a hip-hop and rap music magazine. The reason why I decided to use plenty of props was because I didn’t really use that in my preliminary production. I made sure that I used a genre specific background in my music magazine because I didn’t do that in my preliminary production there for my grades weren’t as good as they could have been because of not doing obvious little things like this.

One other skill I think I have developed from my preliminary production is realising that I need to stick to some form of colour scheme. I think I done this relatively well in the main production because I took colours that really stood out from the dominant image and used the pipet tool use those exact colours to then be inserted as the colour of my sell lines or head mast. This shows progression from the previous product I think because it shows I have identified where I have gone wrong and took these things into consideration to then fix in my main production.

I think I have developed my skills from my preliminary production quite significantly. I decided take plenty of photos for my photo-shoot, this means I had a lot of choice of photos to work with, whereas in my preliminary production I didn’t take a lot of photos which means my choices were restricted. So I think my decision making on what would suit the media product best has improved a lot. I made sure that all my photos were of a ‘medium-close up’ shot which was required in the project brief.

I think my use media terminology has significantly improved from my preliminary production because I have tried to make everything make more sense using the correct terms when required. This I think is applied throughout the research and planning pages as well as my other main production pages such as photo shoot planning etc… I also made sure that my spelling and language was suitable for the actual magazine content as well. As previously stated in other questions I said that I made sure the use of language was appropriate and the norm to my target audience so I wrote in a more informal manner which is appropriate to my magazine because that is how my target market would expect to see it. However, I don’t think in my preliminary production the language I used was relevant to school students so if I were to go back and change something about the content of my preliminary production that would be the main thing I would change along with a few other things. I think this links in with proof reading my work. I noticed that I left far to many ‘i’s in my work and my spelling wasn’t always correct as well as some of my sentences weren’t making any sense so this needed to be amended so I made sure I changed all of the ‘i’s into capitals, copied and pasted my work into Microsoft Word to spell check my work and then ask a friend to read my work to check that it makes sense.

One of things I got marked down for on my preliminary was leaving to much white space in my contents page, so I took this in to consideration for my music magazine (main production) and made sure that any white space that was left was filled with images or branding to make the contents page look more professional.
