PROGRESSION ROUTESAn A-Level in Art and Design can help students prepare for further study or careers in a vast range of op ons, such as; architecture, interior design, fashon and other forms of design, from engineering to graphics.
ASSESSMENTArt and Design is comprised of components. Students must show evidence for all four Assessment Objec ves for all components.AS Component 1 (Por olio) is worth 60% of the overall AS grade.AS Component 2 (Externally Set 5-hour Assignment) is worth 40% of the overall AS grade.AA-Level Component 1 (Personal Inves ga on) is worth 60% of the overall A-Level grade.A-Level Component 2 (Externally Set 15 -hour Assignment) is worth 40% of the overall A-Level grade.HOMEWORKHomework is set weekly, and must be completed to a high standard every week. It may take the form of working on a project, piece of research or comple ng work started in class. Students will be encouraged to work independently.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTSGrade 6 GCSE Art and Design or Grade 6 GCSE Tex le Design.COURSE DESCRIPTIONIn Art and Design, In Art and Design, students will explore a wide range of 2D and 3D materials and techniques. Students will produce prac cal and cri cal/contextual work in one or more areas including pain ng, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, land art, installa on, printmaking, film, anima on, television, video and photography; lens-based and/or light- based media.GCE Art and Design: Fine Art students should demonstrate an understanding of past and contemporary Art prac ce, and be able to produce work that embraces a range of ideas.This specifica on aims to develop:- crea ve and imagina ve ability and prac cal skills for engaging with and for communica ng and expressing original ideas, feelings and meanings in art, cra and design.- inves ga ve, analy cal, experimental and interpre ve capabili es, aesthe c understanding and cri cal and enquiring minds, with increasing independence.- cultural knowledge and understanding of art, cra and design and of the - cultural knowledge and understanding of art, cra and design and of the media and technologies used in different mes, contexts and socie es.- personal a ributes including self confidence, resilience, perseverance, self-discipline and commitment.
