The Benefits

The benefits of having a strong presence in the WZO are that they:

• Select and appoint key paid and lay leadership positions in the World Zionist Organization; the Jewish Agency and the Jewish National Fund

• Determine the nature and content of programmesprovided to the Diaspora, including Shlichim

• Ensure that progressive programmes and representatives are an integral part of the selection process

The Benefits

Page 10: ARZENU Presentation - Steve Denenberg

The Benefits

• The World Zionist Organisation, the Jewish Agency and the Jewish National Fund determine the amount of funds allocated to groups within the Zionist Movement.

• In 2012, over $US 4 million was distributed:

The Benefits (continued)

- ARZENU US$ 171,500

- Shlichim US$ 215,000

- WUPJ (including Netzer & Tamar) US$ 867,111

- IMPJ US$ 1,161,000

- Kibbutzim US$ 1,700,000

- Hebrew Union College US$ 40,000

TOTAL: US$ 4,154,611

Page 11: ARZENU Presentation - Steve Denenberg

• In 2006, at the last elections, ARZA won 6 of the 12 Australian mandates

• In 2010, in order to avoid the cost of elections, ARZA gave up 2 mandates

• The forthcoming elections, again, in order to avoid the cost, may not be held – however - we must be prepared

Page 13: ARZENU Presentation - Steve Denenberg

• The total number of votes cast in Australia in the 2006 elections was around 3,000. ARZA won 50% of the available seats

• ARZA membership has been reduced in order to attract members – $10 per person (over 18) or $18 per family per year

• We need to mobilise the members of our congregations and affiliated organisations to vote so that we can equal, and hopefully surpass, the number of mandates that ARZA won last time

ARZA in Australia

Page 14: ARZENU Presentation - Steve Denenberg

We need your help to:

• Explain to others the importance of the elections

• Ensure your ARZA membership is renewed with your congregational subscription annually

• Encourage people to vote when the elections occur

Be a member and vote to ensure that ARZA/ARZENU remains the strongest party and coalition!
