Yes it’s election time again, and Aruban politics has started. Now everyone knows that we don’t hold back with our opinions, as we are as natural and as honest as you can get. These past 4 years it has been obvious that the current government has dominated the media, and has controlled and determine what they want you to see. It’s way to obvious whenever you open the news papers the pictures are so staged and planned. Yes this government has done allot of positive thing for our island, but also made allot of mistakes, but keep this away from the public. We don’t respect any media that only show one side of things. This election we say investigate your candidate, and vote for the person you feel you can trust. It’s time to stop voting for color and start voting for someone you: -Know -Like -Trust Someone you know understands your situation and have a plan for the future that you can contact if there sailing off course of the plan

Aruban ”Cashew Cake” Cake:

1/2 cup margarine 1 cup sugar 3 egg whites 1-1/2 cups flour 1/4 teaspoon salt 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 cup milk 1/2 teaspoon almond extract 2 cups ground cashews

Frosting:

2 egg whites 1 cup confectionary sugar 1/3 cup margarine 1 teaspoon almond extract 1 teaspoon salt 1 cup ground cashews

METHOD / DIRECTIONS:

Cake:

Cream margarine and sugar until smooth. Add egg whites and mix well. Add the rest of the cake ingredients and mix well. Grease a 9" round cake pan and bake at 350ºF for 25 minutes. Let cool.

Frosting:

Beat egg whites with sugar until stiff. Add margarine, salt, almond extract and beat well. Spread on top and sides of cake.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS:

Traditional decorations are maraschino cherries and lime confetti, small pieces of shredded lime peel.

RECIPE NOTES:

This recipe is a forever special occasion favorite among Arubans. There are still cashew trees growing on the island.
