The Latcham Gallery presents IMAGES 2017, Wildfowers Artwork from the graduating art students at Stouffville District Secondary School January 11 – 21, 2017 Opening reception Wednesday, January 1, 7-pm The artists will be present and all are welcome . IMAGES is the Latcham Gallery’s annual exhibition that showcases the amazing talents from the graduating art class at Stouffville District Secondary School. Every year the energetic and enthusiastic student-artists from Ms. Onalee Creasor’s graduating art class at SDSS push to find and refine their creative passions. Fed by their artistic curiosity, creative courage and a supportive learning environment, this year’s class has allowed their artistic minds to bloom in their Latcham Gallery exhibition titled Wildflowers. The students this year will bring to the Latcham Gallery traditional artistic fare in the form of beautiful still lifes, studies in anatomy and surrealist drawings as well as more unconventional forays into sculpture with their kinetic whirligig sculptures (and videos) as well as a project inspired by the idiosyncratic “screaming head” sculptures by eccentric Burke’s Falls artist, Peter Camani. As well as creating all the work in their exhibition the students from SDSS work hard to pull together all the marketing materials, organize their opening reception and install the works in the gallery. This exhibition has been generously supported by: The Latcham Gallery is a public art gallery dedicated to exhibiting contemporary art.
