    Become a Brent Young Cultural Ambassador

    Brent Council Arts Team is recruiting 12 youngpeople aged 14-16 from across the borough to beYoung Cultural Ambassadors (YCAs) during 2013

    -14. The YCA programme builds on the successof the 2012 Cultural Olympiad and legacy of the

    Brent Inspires Ambassadors who helped engagea generation of young people in culture, mediaand volunteering opportunities in the Olympicyear 2012.

    The YCAs will work with the Brent Arts Team toprogram and manage arts and cultural events inBrent. They will receive training and visit leadingcultural venues in the capital and develop ideas toinspire their school communities and peers.

    Through the programme YCAs will make newfriends, develop leadership, team working andcommunication skills and help to shape Brentsarts and cultural offer for young people during2013-14.

    Tricycle Young Company

    The Tricycles Young Company will re-launch inautumn 2013, to establish a North-West Londonhub for 11 -25 year olds passionate about theatreand film.If youre 11-25, its free to join and youll getaccess to discounted tickets, workshops withprofessional theatre-makers, and a range ofactivities lasting anywhere between one hour toone week all designed to help you develop yourpractice and your networks.     Dance for the VAMPS at WembleySaracens are inviting children aged 6-18 to dancepitch side to a live performance by one of thehottest properties in UK music, the VAMPS.The performance will take place at Wembley

    Brent Music Service Goes Digital!

    Brent Music Service is proud to have introduced the fun and challenges of music to over 90,000young people in the last 16 years. BMS provides instrumental and vocal tuition throughout mostschools in the London borough of Brent, and offers a wide range of instrumental ensembles andchoirs for students from as early as Year 3 up to aged 19 through its BMS Evening Centres.Brent Music Service is also the lead partner of the Brent Music Education Hub and is fullycommitted to its musical development programmes and joint projects with its local and nationalpartners.

    To provide wider awareness of its many activities and projects, Brent Music Service nowproduces a termly online magazine The BMS E-Mag. Its full of information about collaborativeprojects and public events, and its free to subscribe by clicking here! The next issue is due out

    Peoples Postcode Lottery: Dream Fund

    The Peoples Postcode Lottery has announcedthe launch of its Dream Fund. Made possible bythe on-going support from players of PeoplesPostcode Lottery, the Dream Fund is now in its

    fourth year and has so far invested over 1 millionin innovative schemes in Scotland and the NorthWest of England. This is the first year the fund hasbeen open to applicants across Great Britain, withthe level of support rising from 100,000 to250,000. The total available is 500,000 over thenext two years and registered charities and

    community organisations can apply for up to250,000 to deliver new and innovativeprojects under the themes of encouraginghealthy living, social enterprise and

    environmental sustainability.

    ArtFund Curatorial GrantsThe Jonathan Ruffer Curatorial Grantsprogramme provides funding for travel and otherpractical costs to help curators from museumslarge and small undertake collection andexhibition research projects withhin the UK oranywhere in the world.They will support applications from individual UKcurators, scholars and researchers. To undertaketravel or other activities to extend and developtheir curatorial expertise, collections-basedknowledge and art historical interests.

    The Art fund will consider requests for a minimumof 200. Grants above 2000 are decided threetimes annually and Grants below 2000 aredecided throughout the year. Visit

    Comic Relief UK Grants Programme Re-Opensfor Applications

    Following a strategic review of its funding, ComicRelief has announced that its new UK grantmaking programme is now open for applications.Through its new UK Main Fund, Comic Relief willprovide funding for activities that tackle complexproblems and create positive social change

    across the UK. To be eligible for funding projectsmust address at least one of one of five themes:supporting young people who face challenges andhave limited opportunities; supporting people whoface violence, abuse and exploitation; supportingthose in severe financial hardship; supportingdisadvantaged communities; and aiming toempower and give a voice to marginalised groupsof people so that they can challenge injustice andbring about positive changes for those who facediscrimination and stigma. The funding will beavailable to registered charities and other not forprofit organistions that operate England, Scotland,Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands andthe Isle of Man.
