If we talk about arts, first time we think at music, painting, sculpture or literature.From the oldest time, women had a great influence on art.Romanian women were also known for works of art in any field.

The most important Romanian women in music nowadays

In Romania there are a lot of talented singers who succeed to make a successful career in music and some examples are:

Alexandra Irina Măru ăț known as Andra

sings pop music and R&B. She launched her single album in 2001 when she was

just 14 years old. Andra has maintained on the first places since the begining

of her musical life. Sometimes she sings popular music too, that’s the reason

why in her childhood she participated at various competitions where she

recived important awards.

A prestigious women band in Romania was

A.S.I.A a band of girl which unfortunately break up in 2006. 4 girls started to sing togheter on 8 march 1999 in a pop music band. A.S.I.A was made of Anca, Sorana, Irina and Anemona.

Elena Alexandra Apostoleanu also known as Inna has started her career since 2008, she’s a singer of dance and house music. Her first single was famous in countries like: Bulgary, Russia, Poland, Turkey, Greece and Hungary. On 29 April Inna signed a contract with one of the most important music house in America. In the autumn of 2009 she obtained the award for ,,The best Romanian performance”

In sphere of traditional music we remember Irina Loghin , called ,,the queen of Romanian music”. She song a long time in other countries. In 1998 she started to help the Romanian’s old singers and the people without financial opportunities.

IRINA LOGHIN

Maria Ciobanu known as „Romanian nightingale song” was born on 3rd of September 1037 in Vâlcea. Her repertoire includes more than 500 popular songs.

From the oldest time, women were known for their inspiration in literature.

Ana Blandiana

is a writer who published Romanian books and 60 books in many languages.

She fights for freedom and to be able to express your idea. In 1995 the Romanian writer has built an academy.

Otilia CazimirShe died in 1967, Otilia Cazimir was

a writer, a poet and a Romanian publicist. She wrote books for children and also she’s known as ,,The poet of the soul”.

Zoe Băicoianu

She was famous for her sculptures.She was a renowned sculptor

ceramist Romanian woman the daughter of a lady of honor at the Royal Court.

Some of her sculptures are: “young athletes” or “sea navigation”.

She was a Romanian sculptor, professor at the University of Bucharest.

After graduating, she lived in Bucharest.In 1952 she became arts teacher at the University of

Bucharest, teaching sculpture.She produced several compositions and portraits with an

expressive styling: monuments such as:“Monument of Romanian soldiers” were exposed in

Bucharest.

Valentina Elena Boștină

She was one of the most important representatives of monumental sculpture.

She made monumental sculptures and decorative art objects.

Some of them are: “Ancestor” or “Petros Protector”

Ileana Sonnabed

Women Painter

She is known as “the queen of art” was one of the most important woman in 19th century.

By the age of ten, she was fluent in 5 languages. In 1960 she became the first deadler art that promotes famous artists like George Segal or Robert Morris.

She remained a leading figure in the art world by opening numerous Galeries in New York and Paris , but also trough impressive personal

Collection, which today is estimated at one billion dollars and Exhibited in major art galleries of the world.

Cecilia Cutescu-Stork

She was another talented and beautiful woman, also painter.

She was born in the village Raul vadului,in the Caineni commune. Adopted by her maternal grandparents, from which she has the name Cutescu, she remained however very close to her parents, Natalia and Ion Braneanu, and her sister, Flavia-who died in her teen years-and Ortansa-who became an important feminist activitist in Romania.

Cecilia was a Romanian painter whit a strong influence n cultural lfe in the interwar period.

Micaela EleutheriadeShe lived in Bucharest, and she

was one of the great Romanian painters and direct descendant, through the mother, of the family of painter George Tattarecu.

She has studied at the school of Fine Arts with artists teachers of the time of Cecilia Cutescu-Stork and Dimitrie Mirea.

She has participated in the annual exhibition of the graphic hall Simu in Bucharest.

She has taken several group exhibitions at the Gallery Home Art.
