Cell ShadingCel shading is a type of non-photorealistic rendering designed to make computer graphics appear to be hand-drawn. Cel-shading is often used to mimic the style of a comic book or cartoon. It is often used in low budget video games and is sometimes used to make a series of games noticeable to a certain TV show or film. An example of this is ‘The Simpsons Game’.In my opinion I enjoy games that use this style of graphics because, most of the time, it means that the company producing the game is thinking more about the story and plot of the game rather than the graphics.

AbstractionAbstraction is used in many retro type games and is a very distinguishable graphic type within video games. Most games that use this style of graphics don’t usually have a story or message within the game and are just arcade games you wouldn’t particularly play for a long time or get to involved or attached to. An example of a game that uses Abstraction is ‘Tetris’, which is purely an arcade game.I do usually enjoy games that use abstraction due to the fact that they don’t take long or much effort to play.

ExaggerationExaggeration is used in many different genres of video games and is often used in Anime or Manga type games such as the ‘Naruto’ series of games. Exaggeration is often used to emphasize parts of the game or give the game more impact to the player.I haven’t personally played many games that use exaggeration but I do like the style of the graphics and think they do give the games much more of an impact to look at.
