Each level offers you three options:nPlus Pack: 3 Art/Social Science projects per year + 3 Art/Natural Science projects per year.

nBlue Pack: 3 Art/Social Science projects per year.

nGreen Pack: 3 Art/Natural Science projects per year.

Whatever your timetable, interests or objectives, Arts & Crafts Projects will work for you. Its unique structure and presentation gives you the power to decide when, where and how to introduce each project.

PROJECT WALKTHROUGH

Original artworkEach project begins with an original artwork. These artworks are carefully selected to be age-appropriate, relevant to the topic, and to ensure children are given a thorough grounding in art genres, movements and periods over the course of Primary.

A question encourages children to think about and analyse the artwork.

A short text and activity introduces and practises the key vocabulary.

ExploreThese pages introduce pupils to an Element of Art and provide opportunities to explore new skills and vocabulary and make links to science content.

Guided practice: children are given plenty of support on these pages with activities involving copying and completing.

7

DiscoverOn these pages pupils are encouraged to discover and practise new techniques and use a variety of materials to apply the art skills and concepts being studied to new art experiences; always within the context of Natural or Social Science.

Independent practice: here, increased challenge is included allowing children to put their own creative spin on the project at hand.

CreateThese culminating activities are designed to incorporate the skills and techniques learnt throughout the project and provide children with the ultimate opportunity for creativity and personal expression.

Step-by-step: easy to follow instructions and photos to complete the hands-on artwork outside the book.

Art displays: a variety of final outcomes, often presented in beautifully arranged layouts (which work as display ideas for the classroom) are designed to inspire maximum creativity and personal expression.

Children’s artworks: many of these final artworks have been made by children from the corresponding year of Primary Education.

Technology/ Geometry in ArtAt the end of the project we cover specific content related to the new ‘audiovisual’ content block. All these activities are carried out in the context of the Project content.

Technical drawing activities are included with the extra materials in the Plus pack and online with the Red and Blue packs (levels 5 and 6).

FestivalsAll levels come with 6 Festivals (printed with the Plus pack, online with the Red and Blue packs). Festivals range from Christmas and Carnival right through to World Book Day and even Day of the Dead!

Talk about artFinally, students are given the structures they need in order to be able to express their thoughts and feelings about art: their own artworks, those of their classmates and the original artworks included in the project.

MUSIC

Unit openerWonderfully inspiring illustrations create an engaging environment for learners. Age appropriate topics, songs and illustrations will capture children’s interest and introduce them to key musical ideas in a fun, relaxed way.

ListenMusic is full of opportunities to practise listening skills. It is an ideal subject for the bilingual classroom. Help children educate their ear. You will see huge benefits not only in their musical ability but also in language skills.

DiscoverMusic theory has never been more fun! Work on rhythm, pitch, duration, dynamics and more as you take your children through the fundamentals of music.

PlayMove through a whole universe of instruments, beginning with body percussion and simple instrumental exercises. Lower levels propose simple, accessible ideas within the reach of all schools.

SingStudents will gain confidence in their oral expression: not only in Music but in English too!

MUSIC

DanceMusic is about so much more than listening. It is a whole body experience. Social interaction and kinesthetic experiences provide a holistic approach in our method. Encourage your children to feel the rhythm. Tactile learners will thrive!

CreateIntegrate your Music classes with your Arts & Crafts classes. These easy hands-on workshops provide ideal cross-over points between one subject and another.

Talk about MusicNow that students have listened, discovered and played and sung, it’s time to talk about the experience! These activities offer a supportive structure for them to express what they have learnt and how they feel about music.

Technology and MusicSound and technology are inseparable. In these term sections, children will learn about basic tools for listening to, recording and reproducing audiovisual material.

LyricsAt the back of the book, the complete lyrics of all the songs are printed for easy reference.

In tuneTo reinforce group dynamics and cooperative learning, this term section proposes simple projects to be completed as a whole class. The Teacher’s Book offers ideas on methods of working together.

FestivalsThis section offers a song and associated activity for each term. The festivals chosen link up with ByME Arts & Crafts Projects.
