NEED OF ARTIFICIAL
BLOOD
Human blood has to be kept cool, and it has ashelf life of 42 days. This makes it impracticalfor emergency crews to carry it in ambulancesor for medical staff to carry it onto the
battlefield. Its not good to keep a badly bleeding patient
alive until he reaches the hospital.
Doctors must make sure the blood is the righttype-- A, B, AB or O -- before giving it to apatient. If a person receives the wrong type ofblood, a deadly reaction can result.

WHAT IS NANOBOTS
?
Nano = nano is a prefix meaningextremely small. It may bemeasurable as in the wordnano-second, which is one
billionth of a second. (10-9) Bot = bot is short for robot, a
machine which may beprogrammed to carry out certain
tasks, or operated by remotecontrol.
Its also known as Nanoagents

WHAT IS
RESPIROCYTES
The artificial cell or RespirocyteProposed here is a blood bornespherical 1-micron diamondoid1000-atm pressure vessel.
An onboard nano computer andnumerous chemical and pressuresensors enable complex devicebehaviours remotely
reprogrammable by the physicianvia externally applied acousticsignals

There are three main storage tank - one for
oxygen , another for carbon dioxide and third for
ballast water.
An onboard chemo mechanical turbine or fuelcell generates power by combining glucose drawn
from the bloodstream and oxygen drawn from
internal storage.

This is converted tomechanical power whichdrives molecular sortingrotors and othersubsystems
Each power plant develops0.3 Pico watts of power
That's enough energy to fillthe oxygen tank in 10
seconds from empty, apumping rate of 100 millionmolecules/sec

RESPIROCYTES IN
FUTURE
Use stem cells to produce blood
Add functions to the artificial blood such
as things that will replace white blood
cells, platelets, and blood proteins
Bring down the cost to be less than blood
transfusions
