SEAMEO Regional Centre for History and Tradition ANNUAL PROGRAMME Study of Mon Society and Culture 18 - 24 March 2015 Having one of the most brilliant civilizations of mainland Southeast Asia, the Mon period can be divided into seven ranging from protohistoric states to the contemporary world. SEAMEO Regional Centre for History and Tradition has started a new programme: Study of Mon Society and Culture not only to promote the value of Mon civilization which was once flourished in Southeast Asian but also to be aware of the importance of Mon civilization. I. Nature of the Programme The programme will run for seven-days from 18 – 24 March 2015: two-day lecture and discussions conducted by prominent Myanmar and Mon scholars and a five-day trip to the Mon State. The lecturers and concerned staff from SEAMEO CHAT will accompany the participants along the trip. II. Lecture Topics Origin and Religion of Mon Customs and Traditions of Mon Old Cities of Mon Arts and Culture of Mon III. Registration Fee The total fees for the programme is US$ 1000: - Tuition fees US$ 300 - Other expenses on accommodation (based on twin sharing), meals (breakfast, lunch), travel by coach to Kyite-htee-yoe, Thaton, Mottama and Mawlamyine will be altogether US$ 700 which will be arranged by a recommended Tour Company. - Participants are expected to make their own arrangements regarding International Air Travel. IV. Registration The Registration form should be completed and returned with your Curriculum Vitae to the following address by 4 February 2015.
