The powers of the President are split into 5 categories:1. Commander in Chief
2. Chief Executive
3. Chief of State
4. Chief of Legislator
5. Chief of Party
Commander in Chief
Commands all of our Armed Forces Can only mobilize troops but cannot declare war
Only Congress has that ability Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, National Guard,
and state militias are under their authority
Chief Executive
Make sure the Country is running smoothly Cabinet Makes sure they are doing their job
Chief of State
In charge of all foreign relations One person to represent the U.S. Meet with foreign leaders Host foreign leaders Negotiate treaties with other countries
Needs Senate 2/3 approval to do so
Chief Legislator
Approve or disapprove of a law
Chief of Party
Upon winning the Presidential election the President becomes the head of their party.
Democrat or Republican Makes decisions regarding the make up of
the party
