Art Week
This week's theme is Art Week and we can’t wait to see what you produce! Our teachers, and especially our wonderful Art Coordinator Mrs Westwood, have thought carefully about the
activities below and hope you enjoy them with whatever materials you have available.
Don’t forget to share your work with your teachers to the Year Group email addresses and you can comment on your
class blogs!
• Complete a self portrait or portrait of a family member. • Create a stained glass artwork using chalk
and masking tape like this one! • Gather some natural resources from the
parks like twigs and fallen leaves/ cones and arrange in a pattern to create outdoor sculpture (like Andy Goldsworthy).
Drawing Activities • Create a viewfinder by cutting a random shape into a
sheet of card or paper. Make sketches of what you can see.
• Design your own personal logo. • Divide a piece of paper into 6 sections and create a
different pattern in each one. • Follow the instructions to create some street art: https://firstsite.uk/content/uploads/2020/05/Firstsite-Create-at-Home-Street-Art-Style-Activity.pdf • Choose a theme or one kind of subject and only draw
that thing during the course of a day. Try and fill your page. Here are some ideas to get you started:
Fill the page with things with wheels. Fill the page with things that float. Fill the page with robots. Fill your page with things that make you laugh. Fill your page with … fruits, pets, insects, things in the fridge, things of the same colour etc.
• Take close up pictures of objects and places in your house arrange the photos into a collage on the computer. Can your family identify all of the objects?
• Use old birthday cards/magazines to create a collage of an
animal of in the shape of a flower or leaf. • Fruit and vegetable printing. Cut fruits like oranges or pears
and dip in paint. Print on paper so get lots of fruit shaped patterns.
• There are so many amazing illustrators out there! These are just a few! Who is your favour-ite children’s illustra-tor? Have you got a fa-vourite illustration? Can you use Google safe search to find out more about them? This site has many artists sharing their favourite picture books with you.
