How to respect classroom tools, ourselves, and others.

DO NOT:• Run around or horseplay in the art room; other students may be
working. Respect them and they will respect you.
• Talk while the teacher is talking, while another student is talking, or during movies, etc.
• Talk during any announcements.
• Touch anyone else or their artwork unless you have permission.
• Leave the room without the teacher’s permission. Please inform teacher if you need a drink and ask to go to the restroom
• Touch any equipment not being used for your project without permission.
• Throw anything, squirt anything, paint anything, or cut anything that is not supposed to be. If there is any confusion as to what should be thrown, squirted, painted or cut please ask the teacher!

K-Acto Knives/ Utility KnivesSharp blades, that are used for
cutting delicate and detailed images on paper surfaces.
Make sure the the blade is sharp by testing on a small piece of paper.Make sure to tighten the blade.Always cut away from yourself.

Linoleum Cutter, with
various blades. Sharp blades, that are used for
cutting into linoleum, rubber, and wood.

Spatula/ Scraper
Has a sharp blunt edge.Used for scrapping surfaces
clean.Can also be used for spreading
ink from jars.Must be cleaned after use.

Paint BrushesUse only for painting. DO NOT
MIX PAINT WITH BRUSH!Always wash after done with
use. Do not leave in standing water when you are finished with it.
Always store in an upright position when it is not in use

Pallet KnivesUsed only to mix paints.
Must be cleaned after use.

Paint Trays and Pallets
Paint Trays are used to hold pure paint color.
Only a little bit of paint is needed.
A Pallet is used to mix colors on using a pallet knife.
Both need to be cleaned when not in use.

Using the Sink.Never pour chemicals down the sink. Only water soluble paints.Do not leave things (ex. paper,
caps, dried chunks of paint, etc.) in the sink that can clog it.
Always turn the tap off when sink is no longer in use.

SpillsAny spills on the floor should be
cleaned at once. They can be slipping hazards, and may lead to
someone getting hurt if not cleaned up as soon as possible.

Keep Aisles Clear of Debris and Personal
BelongingsKeep Aisles clear of debris and
personal belongings. They become trip hazards and do not keep a clear pathway for exiting
the building incase of an emergency. If any closet or
cabinet doors are open, take the initiative to close them.

• If you take anything away from this slideshow remember to use “Buckets of Common Sense”
• When in doubt, ask the teacher or any other aide in the classroom.
• If you see something dangerous, inform the teacher.
• To prevent accidents during studio activities with tools and materials you should always follow the teachers directions.
