ArtLab Workshop sponsored by the Fine Arts Department at Endicott College
Graphic Novel and Sequential Art Workshop
THIS WORKSHOP will provide a brief overview of working within the structures of graphic novels and various forms of sequence art. The workshop will cover the history of graphic novels and sequential art, methods of execution, scripting the story, layout, materials used and creating a page of art. All levels of skill and experience are invited to participate. If you have already created a graphic novel or are working on one, please bring it to the workshop to share with the instructor. This is a great opportunity for feedback.
All Materials are provided and the workshop is free to Endicott Students
WEEK 1 – October 23, 2014In the first meeting there will be an introduction to the history of graphic novels and sequential materials, a survey of visual vocabulary and sequence of panels. In addition, a scripting exercise will be completed.
WEEK 2 – October 30, 2014In the second meeting we will work on layout and establishing panel placement, character development and story sequence.
WEEK 3 – November 6, 2014In the final meeting, one hour will be devoted to complete the finished page of art. The last hour will be a final presentation of the completed page to the rest of the workshop participants.
