mambo meanin( +conver$ation 'ith the (o!$ i$ a 'or! that came about !ue to the mi-in( of the

cu)ture 'ith that of African cu)ture. Thi$ me)tin( an! mi-in( of cu)ture$ i$ one a$%ect of

*aribbean cu)ture that )ove $o much. There 'ere many a$%ect$ of the rea!in( that foun!

intere$tin(. The ro)e that (en!er ha$ %)aye! re$onate$ 'ith me becau$e the $cenario in /amaica,

my home country, i$ uite $imi)ar. A)thou(h the 'omen !o not re%re$ent 50 of the 'orin(

 %o%u)ation a$ in *uba, there are $ti)) many of the e-%ectation$ that come 'ith bein( a 'oman

!e$%ite havin( a 3ob a$ 'e)). The 'omen are $ti)) e-%ecte! to !o a)) the hou$eho)! activitie$ by

them$e)ve$, an! rai$e their chi)!ren, in many ca$e$ a)one. !o not thin that thi$ i$ 3u$t. a)$o

foun! the conce%t of re)i(ion in *uba to be intere$tin(. t i$ evi!ent that cuban$ 'ere rea))y

abu$e! un!er the ru)e of 4%ain by the fact that they have even re3ecte! the re)i(ion of *hri$tianity

 becau$e it i$ a re%re$entation of the $ufferin( that they entai)e!.
