I i t t d i d b l t l th hidd• I interpreted signs and symbols to reveal the hidden language underlying the male domain of rugby. I transformed this language, recontextualising it into a g g , gnetwork of layers, plays, boundaries and signals to evoke ideas of urban graffiti, social commentary and phallic symbols My abstractions push the boundariesphallic symbols. My abstractions push the boundaries of paint application, influenced by Jackson Pollock, Jean‐Michel Basquiat, Roy de Maistre and Elisabeth Cummings. Working intuitively I used available materials, and my tools included a toilet brush. When one work accidentally became a diptych I developedone work accidentally became a diptych I developed the idea, using enlarged surfaces to create the sense of a narrative playing field and passing time.

• I have three living grandparents. I was inspired by my analysis of Gregory Crewdson’s work to incorporate them into my body of work What developed was not only a comment onbody of work. What developed was not only a comment on suburban isolation but the loneliness that the elderly in our society can experience. The environments represent a sense y p pof the austerity and frugality in the way they live, a conditioning from their past. They exist one day to the next,

d ’ “ b ” i f ll fGordon Broome’s “Abstract Intercept” is full of colour and life.  Broome mentions in his statement about his work his BOW(body of work) has been influenced by artists Jackson Pollock, Jean‐Michel Basquiat, Roy de Maistre and Elisabeth Cummings. Broome’s works present warm and cool colours. Broome has also mentioned that his work is based on “urban graffiti”. Broome has also made use of many elements of colour.

h l k ’ i i i i fThomas Blackett’s Waiting is a series of photographic media. Blackett has constructed his work in a type of film strip. Blackett mentions in his statement that his BOW was influenced by Gregory Crewdson’s works.  I like the way that Blackett has presented his work in two half's one half is lit up by electric florescent lights and the other half is neutral. This way has created two different moods to Blackett’s dark photographic media.
