Accessing Blackboard Blackboard (Bb) is a useful system for course management and tests. In order to use Blackboard at EKU, students must have an active EKU email account. Accounts are activated at the EKU Web entrance at http://www.eku.edu. During the activation process they will learn their usernames and initial passwords, which are then valid for use with Blackboard, the email system, the library's remote access system, and the ITDS computer labs' login process. Initial log into Blackboard site at http: //learn.eku.edu. Bookmark the web site for quick access later. Note the How to Use Blackboard at the lower left. Select the ART 200 course. For problems with access to Blackboard, students should call the EKU Help desk at 859.622.3000 or email [email protected]. Students should frequently consult blackboard. Students are responsible for monitoring the course site for announcements and resources; familiarity with the course site is presumed after the first day. It is the student's responsibility to maintain effective communications with the course and instructor. Blackboard is the official communications media of this course and student problems with access must be resolved as quickly as possible. Technical Issues: This is an online course, requiring a good command of modern computer communications technology and methods. If you do not understand, or cannot quickly learn, such aspects as Blackboard, sending attachments, copying online text, knowing which browser or word processing program you use, submitting documents in Word-compatible format, surfing the web, etc., then this may not be the course format for you. It is the student's responsibility to maintain the course communications technology in functioning order, e.g., your email or access to the Internet. Technical problems are not acceptable excuses for late or unreadable submissions. ALWAYS make backups of draft and final work. Saving work only in one place is very dangerous. Email draft and final work to yourself for safety. That way, it will always be available from any online computer.

Department of Art & Design Attendance Policy: Students are expected to attend class and actively participate in all aspects of the learning process. This includes class discussions, written work, and in-class activities. National and local studies have shown a direct correlation between attendance and grade performance. Therefore, attendance is considered mandatory. Students who miss more than 10% of the regularly scheduled class meetings due to unexcused absences are subject to failing the course. For example, students enrolled in classes that meet 2 times a week may not exceed 3 unexcused absences for the semester. For the purposes of this course, "excused absences" include verifiable medical or family emergencies, University approved activities (accompanied by a University excuse), illness (yours or a family member’s), and other absences as outlined in the University’s “Student Absence from Class” policy. Students should be prepared to document the reasons for the absence. Students whose absences are not excused will not normally be allowed to make up tests, quizzes, and/or assignments. Students who anticipate having a high number of excused absences should contact their instructor as soon as the situation arises so that they can make arrangements for how to handle missed class time.

Accessibility Accommodation Statement The University strives to make all learning experiences as accessible as possible. If you are registered with the Center for Student Accessibility (CSA), please request your accommodation letter from the

Additionally, pregnancy accompanied by a medical condition(s), which causes a similar substantial limitation, may also be considered under the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA). Upon individual request, this syllabus can be made available in an alternative format. Discrimination, harassment, or violence will not be tolerated at EKU: EKU is committed to a respectful and inclusive environment and thus prohibits discrimination, harassment, or violence of any kind. It also requires faculty members to report any information that may indicate that discrimination, harassment, or violence has affected any member of the University community.
