Why Do We Have a Leap Year? By: Erin Stanton & Kaysi Reimer

A common year has 365 days and a leap year has 366 days, with the extra, or intercalary (extra) day, designated as February 29. A leap year occurs every four years to help synchronize the calendar year with the solar year, or the length of time it

takes the earth to complete its orbit around the sun, which is about 365¼ days. This intercalary (extra) day helps to keep the seasons aligned with weather patterns.

Book of the Month

By Aaron Nemeth

This month’s book review is on the book Middle School: the Worst Years of My Life. This book is a 281 page book by James Patterson. I got very distracted by it and read the whole thing very quickly. It is about a sixth grade boy named Rafe who was not happy with his school, especially when

they handed out the school rulebook. Rafe, with his imaginary friend Leo, created operation R.A.F.E which stood for “Rules Aren’t For Everyone”. His goal was to break all the schools rules. Rafe almost did it, but then got into huge trouble and was expelled! Right when things couldn’t be worse for him because of how much trouble he was in, he was transferred to an art school. Whew!!!
