Under 10 Boys - Friday (Dans)Coach/Report: Dan CalvertKeilor 109 def Essendon 75It was nice to finally start the season and to be honest Dan and I were a little unsure as to what to expect considering the lack of training due to weather.

Essendon wont the toss and elected to Bowl. Captain for the night was Odin who bowled the first over and got us off to a good start with a wicket in the first over.

The fielding was great and the encouragement from the more experience players like Ben, Minuka and Marcus was good to see. In the end we managed to hold Essendon to 75 and we took 6 wickets.

Odin and Minuka opened the batting and were off to a solid start. The middle order was very solid with Marcus, Charles and Ned G keeping their wickets and proving too good for the Essendon bowlers.

Riz, Prab and Dehan then finishe dthe innings with some boundaries and we ended the night comfortably on 109.

Highlights on the night Dehan batting and Charles improving his bowling.

If the boys can continue their encouragement of one another it will be a great season.

Next match vs St Albans away 5.15pm Fri 19/10

Under 10 Boys - Friday (BJ)Coach: BJKeilor def by Essendon

In our open game of the year with a bunch of fresh faces, Ned was captain for the night and lead well from the front. All the kids showed greatdetermination with the bat and put on a tough score for Essendon to chase.

In the field there were some great

efforts including some nice bowling

from Ashleigh and some gritty spirit

from Jonah after copping a ball to

the neck.

Looking forward to a fun season.

Under 12 Boys – Friday BlueCoach/Report: Greg CarbisKeilor Blue 72 def St Bernards 48We had a great start to the season, with our captain Rory winning the toss we sent them in. We bowled extremely well for our first game. All our bowlers bowled good lines and lengths with minimal wides and no balls. The pick of our bowlers were Billy D with 1 for 0 of 2 overs and Thomas Mc with 1 for 5 of 3 overs. Also mentions to Josh C wicket keeping who didn't let much past and also in his first ever game of cricket Billy Thomas taking a catch and bowling quite well. Great effort restricting them to only 48 of 22 overs.

Our turn to bat and it was a very even display with most of the boys getting starts before retiring after 4 overs. We only lost 2 wickets for the innings. We passed them easily ending up on 72 after 22 overs.

I think a lot of our boys will take time adjusting from under 10's to 12's only getting the one chance when batting. A few were nervous about losing there wicket.

A great start boys with plenty of room for improvement still.

Under 12 Boys – Friday Red Coach: Bailey Hunt / Report: Jeff ReevesKeilor 8/48 def by St Andrews 2/113It was the first Under 12s game for many of our players. We only had four players near the start of the game so batted first. Oscar and Ben opened the batting and lasted a couple of overs before going out.

Jack was the pick of the batsman making Our overall total 8/48 needs to improve but there were good signs from a number of the players, just need to keep the ball of the ground and continue to bat and run aggressively.

All of our players bowled well, we bowled less no balls and wides than the opposition which was pleasing. Michael kept very well.

Overall a good start to the season and I think the team will improve significantly over the next few weeks.

Special Mentions:

Jack Manley 5 runs

Spencer Hutchinson 1 Wicket

Under 13 Girls – Saturday Coach/Report: Lou AcevskiKeilor 10/112 def by Yarraville 4/129The Keilor Girls set out to play their first ever game against a full boys team. That honor we bestowed upon the U13 Yarraville Boys team. As I arrived I could see all the heads turning and wondering what was happening. Why are there only girls here? Where are their brothers? Surely we aren’t playing girls........None of this was actually said but I’m damn sure it was what was thought........

Yarraville won the toss and sent us into bat. The Yarraville boys quickly learned that the Keilor Girls were serious cricketers. From the first ball with a defensive shot we had ushered a new era of competition. This was the first ever ALL GIRLS team taking on the boys. From the get to the Girls were calling through the singles. Quick and sharp.....The Yarraville boys didn’t know what hit them. Within no time Katherine and Olivia had taken the score into the 20’s and it was panic stations for the opposition. We were away......

Indu was next in. And what an innings she produced 36no. I hadn’t seen anything like it since the great Viv Richards took the Aussies apart at the MCG. The great running and shot making continued with adding Olivia 14 giving Indu great support. The score after 15 overs was 3/65 with the girls sending shockwaves into the Yarraville camp. You could hear the parents at the other end trying to lift their boys. The game was on......

The girls continued where they left off. Applying pressure with their quick running between the wickets. And these boys were no mugs. They had some serious bowlers amongst them. But the girls were not phased. They kept at their game plan with Alyssa adding 17 and a quick fire 10 from Lereece to give the girls a final total of 10/112.

If the boys thought they had weathered the best the girls could give them they were mistaken. Their inning at bat would pose them just as many questions their bowling did against the girls. When those first balls were bowled by Ruby and Lereece you could see the shock in the eyes of the Yarravilleboys. They would have been excused in thinking that we’ve weathered their best bowlers now for some runs. How mistaken they were. Chelsea and Alyssa were the next pair and these two terrorised the Yarraville boys. So much so that Chelsea captured our first ever wicket from a great catch by Ruby. Then to further dent the Yarraville boys ego’s she clean bowled her next victim. Not to be undone with Alyssa zipping the ball past the bat, she too clean bowled an unsuspecting batsman. The girls had rattled the Yarraville boys. Sarah, Katherine and Amelia all kept tight lines and the pressure on. And after 15 overs Yarraville were 3/55 and trying to figure out what had just happened.

To their credit the Yarraville boys regrouped. With some good middle order batting and they managed to get over the line. Not before we put the biggest scare in their short cricket lives. They may have won the match. But without a doubt the Keilor Girls won the day. Their brilliant batting, their awesome bowling and fabulous fielding and not to mention their tremendous attitudes towards playing as a team is why this Proud Coach had the day of his life excessively supporting them while watching them produce this exemplary effort. Well done Keilor Girls, you are the true trailblazers for the Keilor Cricket club..

• Indu 36 no, Chelsea 2/12

• Alyssa 17 and 1/14, Olivia 14

Under 14 Boys - FridayCoach/Report: Luke DelbridgeKeilor 4/135 def Keilor Park 2/99

The under 14 Friday boys began there first grading game against Keilor park, away. Losing the toss and put into bat, we got off to a great start and all the boys continued the great batting with a lot of positives to come from the performance.

Defending 135, we began a little wayward, still trying to find the right areas to some attacking KP openers. We regrouped at the halfway point and began to bowl a much tighter line, really restricting the flow of runs. Keeping them to 99 off there 20 overs was a good win to start the season.

All the boys showed positive signs of a good year ahead.

Under 14 Boys - Saturday Coach/Report: BJKeilor 5/135 def St Andrews 9/117

Lucas was captain for the day.Pascoe Vale St Andrews won the toss & elected to bat on a wet outfield.Aaron took a super catch behind the stumps to get us off to a great start & Michael took 2 wickets. They finished 9 for 117.

Josh batted smart making 31 r/no, Mitch followed with 27 & some big hitting from Michael & Noah. Zac hit his first 4 in under 14’s with a beautiful cover drive and Keilor finished 4/138 off 30 overs.

A great start to the season, plenty to work on, all in all a good performance, well done boys!

Under 16 Boys - FridayCoach/Report: Albert PanaiaKeilor 0/205 def Youlden Parkville 4/139Our first game for the year was a 20/20 match at home against Youlden Parkville.

We won the toss and sent the opposition in.

Defending the ground proved to be a bit difficult with only 9 players on the ground.

Despite this, the bowlers did an amazing job bowling good line and length.

However the fast ground combined with the short boundaries meant we had a reasonable target to chase down.

Needing to score at 7 runs per over to clinch victory, Ben and Akhmal got us off to good start scoring freely with some classic cricket shots.

It wasn’t long before it became apparent that our boys had a little too much class for the opposition and the target was reached with more than 5 overs to spare.

Some big hitting by Nethum towards the end of the innings saw our score pass 200 without losing a wicket for the entire innings.

A great way to start the season with an emphatic win.

Special Mentions:

Ben Mather - 51 not out

Akhmal Rajudin - 37 not out

Nethum Athukorala - 50 not out

Noah Panaia - 52 not out & 3/12 off 3 overs.

Under 16 Boys - SaturdayCoach/Report: Jeff ReevesAberfeldie Park 5/168 Defeated Keilor 8/101We lost the toss and Aberfeldie Park sent us into bat. We started well with Cameron Thorley batting well. We then got bogged down which is difficult in a one day game and only made 101 which was always going to be difficult to defend.

Our bowling overall was good, but a few bowlers, bowled too many short balls. Blake was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets.

Our fielding also needs to improve, we let at least three fours through our legs. Cameron McDonald kept very well though.

Overall an ok performance for up I think we are going to have a fun and enjoyable year. They are a great group of kids and will be a joy to coach.
