This Sunday, March 20th there will be a service of Lament & Prayer for Pimicikamak Cree Nation (Cross Lake). In the last two months, six members from this community have taken their lives, eighteen have attempted the same, and over one hundred and forty have reported suicidal ideation. We hope to gather in solidarity and prayer for our sisters and brothers whose sorrows are profound and whose God-beloved lives are inextricably woven with our own. The service will be held at Home Street Mennonite Church (318 Home Street, Winnipeg). Doors will open at 4:00 pm for silent reflection, prayer, smudging and drumming. The service will begin at 5:00 pm. A time of food and fellowship will follow (if you are able, please bring some squares, cookies or finger food to share).

MC Canada:

Our 3rd Annual Dessert Fundraiser will be held Friday, April 8 at the MHC Gallery, in support of the ongoing work of the Mennonite Heritage Centre’s archive program.  Andrew Wall director of the Last Objector documentary about WWII Conscientious Objectors will show a rough cut preview of his film.  Presentation at 7 PM, followed by coffee and desserts from Goodies Bakery.
