MITIGATING ENVIRONMENTAL RISK
Providing technical support on a reimbursable basis at 350+ locations to address potential PFAS releases:
As of January 2019: 7 Major Subordinate Commands, 14 USACE Districts, Huntsville Center and Engineering Research & Development Center providing support at 350+ locations.
• Group of man-made chemicals found in:
o Everyday products
(teflon, waterproofing chemicals)
o Foams used to fight fires at airfields on military bases
• Receiving national attention
• Rapidly changing technical
and regulatory landscape
• Requires centralized Department of Defense coordination
Current Level Of Support WHAT ARE PFAS?
Emerging Issue: Per- and Polyfluoroakly Substances (PFAS)
LIFE-CYCLE PARTNERING
Desired Outcome: An enduring commitment towards achieving shared objectives by jointly managing performance, risk, and relationships in a
manner that builds and sustains mutual trust and transparency
Acquisition Planning Bidding Period Execution
• Bidder inquiries lead to early resolution of potential issues
• Risk mitigation communicated in proposals
• Timely source selection decisions
• Joint Risk Registers • Team Partnering Assessment &
Performance Goals Tool • Issues resolved at lowest level;
elevated in timely manner
