The fund-raising for the night achieved $13,700 which was the best on record by a few hundred dollars. I would like to thank all who attended the dinner and made it such a great night of fellowship, learning and challenge and those who put such great work and effort into the evening.

Rob Dewhurst - Chairman AYF Management Committee

Roy Williams - An Impassioned Plea for SRERoy Williams is a Christian author and historian. He spoke at the AYF Dinner about the important role played by churches in the early days of federation especially in NSW and the important role the churches played in developing the educational systems in Australia well before the state became involved. He made an impassioned plea for the continuation of Christian teaching in our secular schools as a means to enable at least a basic understanding of Christian knowledge in order to develop an informed answer about important questions of life and the existence of God. Roy generously made available copies of his latest book ‘Post God Nation’, ABC Books (2015) as prizes and gifts to the audience attending the dinner.

Warrumbungling with Year 73 days camping in the Warrumbungles. 85 Year 7 students. BYO tent. BYO food and water. What could possibly go wrong? Surprisingly, not a great deal! Duval High School’s Year 7 students were especially impressive when it came to dinner time. Pots, pans, gas cookers and pre-cooked meals appeared from nowhere. Sometimes the ice cream container of frozen spaghetti bolognaise did get a little stuck to the bottom of the pot, but that was only a minor hurdle to overcome.

The hero of the experience was of course the bushwalking. The Breadknife, Grand High Tops and Belougery Split Rock all featured highly. I brought up the rear of the pack and managed to coax the stragglers to ‘keep moving!’

Finally, we were treated to a tour of the Siding Springs Observatory. Mr Craven was suitably chuffed, taking selfies inside Australia’s largest telescope.

I look forward to being involved on future camps, having more opportunities to build rapport with students outside of the classroom.

Matt Mulready - SRE Teacher

A Quick G’Day From Sunny Evans HeadsDear AYF Supporters,

Our family is well and truly settled into our new life in sunny Evans Head where the weather is yet to get below 15 degrees. We’re finding Evans Head a place we’re very well suited to. We’re very thankful for our time in Armidale and how it’s prepared us well for our work and ministry in Evans. Tara is working two days a week in Lismore, Sunny is now 2 and enjoys going to play group and we now have a 15 year old foster daughter- instant family!

It’s been encouraging to see God’s hand and leading in all the changes in the new year and we continue to trust Him through the highs and lows ahead.

Please keep supporting AYF, praying for Matt in Armidale, and the schools all over NSW.

In Christ - Les & Tara Moreman

Please Praise God for ...
