Anything that went by the name of education was a good thing just because it went by that name. I believe that the magic of the name is gone and that we must now present a defensible program if we wish to preserve whatever we have that is of value. Money comes to education in three ways from students, from donors and from legislatures. To frame a policy in order to appeal to any one of the three is fatal, and, as I have suggested, often futile as well.
