Gold Medal Schools• Provided physical activity and healthy

nutrition choices through policy changes

• Developed in 2001 using the Utah State

Office of Education’s core curriculum

and the CDC’s guidelines to address

overweight and obesity in elementary

schools

• Timed to coincide with the 2002

Olympics held in Salt Lake City

• Partnered with Intermountain

Healthcare in 2005

• Retired in 2013 when EPICC program

was formed
