• Adjunct staff are not employees, therefore need:• to be on a paid appointment, or• a sub-contract in place

• Students own their IP and have rights. To participate they• May be required to assign their IP to GU, &• be on a paid appointment or sub-contract arrangement• Always talk to GE in relation to student rights, IP ownership, publication

• The surplus amount is ‘indicative’ only• Do not approve access to surplus until the end of the project• Agree to the % distribution of surplus upfront but remember that the

amount can and usually does change

• Project leader has overall responsibility to deliver project, manage the team and ensure contract compliance:

• As such the project leader may need to:• Change the team composition in light of non-availability, poor

performance, or changed requirements• Obtain any approvals (eg project and ethics approvals)• Identify and manage conflicts of interest• Manage publication of project outcomes

Project Leaders• Make your Head of Element aware of planned projects so that any

issues can be addressed early

• Contact GE for assistance as soon as you are aware of a potential

project

• Never agree on a project price with your client before contacting

GE

• Discuss preferences for publishing and IP ownership (if applicable)

early with GE and your clients

• Obtain internal approvals and contract sign-off before project

commencement

• Dean (Academic) must provide approval for staff replacement
