■ Argentina’s pharmaceutical market is expected toreach $US15 billion by 2020, up from $5.6 billion in2012, according to a report from GlobalData. Threemain factors will drive this growth: strong domesticmanufacturers (currently accounting for about 50% ofthe market); high-quality manufacturing capabilities(however, Argentine companies still lack the hugeproduction capacities, and hence lower prices, ofChinese and Indian companies); and favourableclinical trial regulations, especially within LatinAmerica. The report also notes that the growth inmedical devices market will be more moderate,increasing from $1.7 billion in 2012 to $2.4 billion in2020.GlobalData.
