When GNB Voc-Tech day school has been cancelled for inclement weather, evening school classes ARE NOT automatically can-celled. A separate decision will be made and announced. Make-up clas-ses will be scheduled at the discretion of the Adult Education Director.
At the conclusion of each non-license class, students will be given a certificate in their re-spective programs if they have attended 75% of the required class.
It is a school policy that no one is allowed into the building or any of the classrooms at any time unless they are an Adult Education stu-dent.
C.E.U.’s and P.D.P.’s are available upon re-quest for some courses.

Registration is open to all, regardless of where they reside.

Classes operate on a Trimester System. All classes run for 8 weeks from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday unless otherwise stated.
Tuition will be returned if it is impossible to conduct a course or the student decides to
drop out of a planned course before it begins.
Senior Citizens (60 or over) will receive a $10.00 discount for all 8 week classes and a $5.00 discount for 4 week classes.
Qualified individuals with disabilities seeking reasonable accommodations are requested to contact the Director at the time of registration.
Students must be 18 or older and not currently a high school student to take a course or be in the classroom during instruction.

This 45-hour Certificate Course is designed to provide an entry-level overview for those thinking of a career in the marine trades. This course will concentrate on entry-level skills necessary for employment in the marine industry. Upon successful completion, participants will receive an industry-recognized Massachusetts Marine Trades Association Certificate. This credential provides an excellent basis for hiring in the field. 10-Hour OSHA Card may be available through separate course for an additional fee.

Industrial/Municipal Wastewater Training

This twelve week course will introduce the student to the physical and
chemical processes associated with water quality, pollution, and
treatment of liquid wastes, as they pertain to Municipal and Industrial
Operations. The student will be exposed to the function of related
equipment and support systems and the environmental
responsibilities required to safely and properly operate and maintain a
Wastewater Treatment Facility. Topics covered include municipal
wastewater treatment processes, industrial wastewater treatment
processes, collection systems, regulations, laboratory and math. This
course will concentrate on preparing students to pass a Grade 4
Municipal Wastewater License exam, a Massachusetts Basic
Industrial Wastewater License exam and/or a Grade 5 Combined
Wastewater License Exam. This course is also a State of
Massachusetts approved class for obtaining Training Contact Hours.

MA master plumbers and gas fitters, journeyman plumbers and gasfit-
ters, and LP installers are required by CMR 11.00 to compete Session
#6 prior to license renewal. This class will utilize IAPMO course curric-
ulum materials which include Board updates, chimney and venting
updates, appliance installation requirements, tool and product news,
related industry issues, administrative topics, code compliant installa-
tion methods, alternative plumbing technologies, and business items
that currently effect all licensees. Students need to sign up for both

This course will prepare participants for employment within both the clinical and retail pharmacy practice. Focus will be placed on medical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, inventory systems, and
regulations affecting pharmacy practice.
Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared to sit for the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) exam which would provide them with a CPHT (Certified Pharmacy Technician)

CPR (Heartsaver CPR/AED) Instructor: Erin Marcotte Do you need to earn a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet a job or regulatory requirement? Learn how to deliver adult and child CPR and AED use, infant CPR, and how to relieve choking in adults, children, and infants. The American Heart Association’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, allows instructors to observe you, provide feedback, and guide you. You will recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compres-sions, and deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. No medical training required. You need to complete a written
exam and pass to earn your completion card.
The cost includes a $22.00 fee for the CPR AED Certification Card.

Traditional Half-Hull Model Building Instructor: Marsom Pratt II of Gloriana Boat Hulls 8 Weeks 6:30—9:30 pm This course will explain how to read naval architects’ blue prints.
This information will then be put to use in constructing a half mod-
el using the lift method. At the end of the class, each student will
have a finished model. Tools will be supplied. Each student will be
responsible for purchasing their own wood. Some wood working
experience required.

Introduction to CAD/CNC for Woodworking Instructor: Jeff Fortin 8 Weeks 6:30 - 9:30 pm This is a basic CAD and CNC course for woodworking. Students will
learn the CAD/CNC language, programming and machine operation
needed to design/machine basic woodworking project parts, signs,
basic cabinetry, and 3D carvings. We will be using Alphacam and
Aspire for the CAD programming and Multicam for CNC router
machining.

Woodcarving Instructor: Michael Weydt 8 Weeks 6:30—9:30 pm This course will cover basic, intermediate and advanced carving
techniques depending on the student’s skill level. We will discuss
safety, tools, sharpening, woods, finishes and other related topics.
Materials will be provided for the first two carving projects which will
be suitable for display. Students may purchase additional projects
thereafter at a modest fee. This is a perfect course for all Boy/Girl
Scout leaders or badge councilors!

certified building officials.

This course is intended to prepare individuals to take the building
inspector certification exams. Candidates must meet the minimum
qualifications of MGL chapter 143 - 3, which requires a minimum of
five years of construction experience in a direct supervisory
position to take the certification exam. Certification will qualify you
for municipal employment as a building inspector.

This course will continue with woodworking basics: specific skills in
light power tool equipment, basic joinery, and cabinet basics.
Students will be required to make a few small projects with step-by-
step procedures and instruction. Knowledge gained will assist
students in furthering their skills in woodworking. Safety is stressed

This course is designed for the future or present homeowners that
are contemplating building, renovating, or repairing their own homes
along with general home maintenance. Classes will cover building
terminology, replacement windows, code requirements, and drawing
techniques to obtain a building permit. Shop instruction will include
use of hand and power tools, rafter and stair layout using a framing
square.

Furniture Refinishing Fundamentals

If you have a piece of furniture that needs a face lift, this is the course
to take. The first class will be an orientation to evaluate the piece,
and an overview of different types of finishes and solvents. Students
are responsible for all materials, solvents, and finishes.

Fine Woodworking

If you have some experience in woodworking and would like to take
the next step in creating a turn of the century piece, take the chal-
lenge. This course includes complete step-by-step instruction in cre-
ating a one of a kind piece such as a Queen Anne step stool and a
true hand-cut dovetail blanket chest, using typical hand tools and
modern machine techniques.

Instructor: Cathy Chace 8 Weeks 6:30—9:30 pm This course will introduce students to Microsoft Word and the word processing skills necessary to write letters and reports, create flyers and newsletters, and improve office skills.
