The Scarborough Fair Collection and Vintage Transport Museum is one of the largest indoor
attractions in the local area and takes visitors on a journey down memory lane! There is so much to see, we’ve tried to give you our best summary but
it needs to be seen in person to be believed!
VINTAGE VEHICLESFrom cars to motorbikes, charabancs to buses, we’ve got a wide array of stunning vehicles on
show. Learn about their heritage and parts they played in history as you peruse through the
museum. See how our World War Wagon helped the war effort, while our 1915 Napier Open Top
Bus and Charabanc are working examples of how visitors to Scarborough used travel to the coast
and see the sights while there.
WURLITZER TEA DANCES On Wednesday and Thursday afternoons between
1pm and 4pm our resident organist, Michael Carr, plays the Mighty Wurlitzer in our stunning
ballroom. Watch or take part as dancers twirl around the dancefloor to the tune of the favourite
melodies from various eras.
TRACTION ENGINESHave your picture with a
movie star at the museum! The Iron Maiden, star of the big screen, is lovingly kept
here at the Scarborough Fair Collection! There are also
a number of other traction engines displayed too.
HOW DID IT ALL START?
So much to see!
The land the Scarborough Fair Collection and Vintage Transport Museum and the Flower of May Holiday Park sits on was formerly used for farming
before it was developed into a holiday park. The owner of the holiday park and museum can be seen
working the land with his father on the left.
Did you know?
PENNY ARCADETry your luck on the Penny
Arcade while you are visitng! We’ve got the old pennies
available from reception for you to have a try!
Visit England gave The Scarborough Fair Collection it’s Hidden Gem award back in 2014 and it’s
something our guests continue to say!
We’re always highly ranked as one of the top things to do in Scarborough on Trip Advisor too!
Award winners!
FAIRGROUND AND DANCE ORGANSWe also have a collection of mechanical organs
which include the Decap, Gavioli, Mortier Ruth, the Oktoberfest and the Marenghi. Plus the Bruder Fair Organ, Wellershaus Fair Orgran and the Hooguys
Dance Organ! None of which can be missed and all have intruging back stories!
We’ve got some classic fairground rides here and there is the opportunity to
ride on some of them!
For example, the Tidman Gallopers, built in 1893 is a ride which can’t be missed! It’s one of the most popular attractions at The Scarborough Fair
Collection.
! While we try our best to keep our vintage rides operational, we can not
guarantee they will be open on the day.
Fun of the fair!
