TRANSCRIPT

The only other piece of information on the poster is the album name AM and the release date. The small amount of info on the poster makes it clear to what pieces of information are essential for promotion. The minimalist approach to the written info links in with the style and theme of the album and poster design. The band name is written in white font and is placed at the top centre of the page. The type face itself is shaped slightly in the form of a wave motion, as it increases in size from left to right. This styling is very stereotypically retro; it is reminiscent of the band oasis and their font style, which gives the audience an idea of the genre of music and the bands inspirations. The fact that this poster only has three potential points of focus show that the band has only used whats necessary, there is no extra design for audience engagement or interest. This suggests that this album is aimed at the bands dedicated fans, the need for fancy visuals isnt relevant. The large amounts of negative space in between and around the white details help to isolate and divide the poster into three parts. The title, the logo and the info. This has been done to again stick to its simplistic natureThe AM logo runs horizontally through the centre of the poster. This logo is the main focus of the entire poster, the wavy line almost looks like an pulsing sound wave which suggest enforces the idea of music and performance. Also the symmetry and design of the logo creates the appearance of an optical illusion, implying that the tracks on that album are more alternative and consider an experience. The overall colour scheme of the poster is very bland and simple, with the black and white and the logo. The simplicity is key to its success. The two tones make it easy for the audience to distinguish the key parts of information, e.g. the band name, release date and the iconic album logo.
