Leonard and Sarah (Clegg) Midgley were both natives of England, emigrating to Worcester in1869 with seven of thdr 12 children (two died young, two remained, one previously emigrated).All five sons worked at Washburn & Moen North Works during the late 1800s and early 1900s.One daughter, Emma, was foreman at Worcester Corset Company during the early 1900s.Frederick Midgley, one-time employee at Washburn & Moen, was later a farmer and WorcesterCity Councilor in the 1930s. He married Carrie Bancroft:, of the well-known Worcester Bancroftfamily.

The collection is comprised of photographs of the Midgley family taken ca. 1874-1900; with abrief family history centered on Leonard W. & Sarah Clegg Mid̂ey and their children, ca. 1840s-1940s .
