Architecture calls for tension. There is a realisation in a building when tension within the site is exposed and

renegotiated. This project explores the relationship between !owing animated architecture and the ten-

sions of a speci"c site.

The brief asks for the design of a new central hub for the University of Canberra. The Concourse has been

lowered to the level of the existing Hub creating a need to relocate facilities along with new services. The

result is an organic insertion along the concourses long axis. Circulation and Entry occur where the

building’s facade is anchored to the ground. This creates a stop-motion e#ect where the building appears

captured in motion. In plan it appears as a horizontal skyscraper which has jetted out into the concourse.
