COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER

PUC Campinas - Senior designEducational Istitution at Jundiaí - SP, Brazil

“A school has great potential to act as integrator of the local community. To explore this feature was one of our main goals. In this context came the desire to create a building whose relationship with the environment provoked at the same time estrangement and attraction. We imagine then the insertion of a strong and recognizable object in the landscape. “ - Andrade Morettin about the FDE school EE Jornalista Roberto Marinho

The Community Learning Center was designed as an activator of social life, a place where the community can express themselves and create an identity for this new neighborhood.

This identity starts to be definied by the own unusual shape of the buil-ding, a landmark in the urban landscape.

The program is divided into two spheres and that reflects into the archi-tecture of the building. The project was conceived from two objects: the most rational, orthogonal, focused on the formal education (Elementary School and High School) and a more fluid one, with diagonals that de-fine the landscaping project, home of the more social activities such as sports and arts (Community Space).

COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER

- Connect the neighborhood- Prioritize the pedestrian- Respect the heritage- Visualize the environment- Design the patio

The main access to the Community Learning Center has been designed in order to enrich the connection between the main squa-re (the core of the urban plan) and the neighborhood (potencial users of the project). This connection is created by a pedestrian street, that starts at the beginning of the new land subdivision, passes between the old Railway Station and the Community Learning Center and follows up untill the park. Therefore, the main entrance of the building is turned towards it, creating also an axis with the public library.

The “U” shaped building implantation configures the internal courtyard that is the heart of the project. Keeping a clear view to the public square, the patio becomes visually connected to it.

CO - HOUSING

Politecnico di MilanoArchitectural design studio 2Co - Housing at Milano, ItalyCollaboration: Lígia Corrêa da Silva

Our urban analysis revealed a strong relation between the artistic, cul-tural and educational large scale activities that happen in Politecnico di Milano and Triennale. The project area is situated in a strategic point, near the train station. Here, during the daytime, there is a large flux of people consisting mainly of students. This flux has encouraged the creation of establishments to serve the students during the day, but these establishments are not well diversified. Furthermore, they do not significantly contribute to qualify the neighborhood.Although it lacks public spaces and activities that can integrate the own inhabitants of the neighborhood, Bovisa has great potential to become a center of culture.

Therefore the main intention is recreating the form of living in this tra-ditional neighborhood by enhancing the relationship between the neighbors of the habitation project. We also want to create a space to integrate the residents and the general people who live or pass through Bovisa by developing a place where cultural activities happen, following the natural tendency of the neighborhood. We want to consolidate the identity of Bovisa and to generate movement, especially in the night. Because of that, we chose to plan a Co-Housing for artists with an exhi-bition gallery for the works that are produced by the residents. To con-ceive this space we want to incoporate some concepts, which conterba-lance the patterns that were found through our study:

AREA OF HIGH ATRACTIVENESS TO ARTISTS, DESIGNERS AND ARCHITECTS

MAIN TYPOLOGY = STAND STILL COUNTERBALANCE = FACADES WITH MOVEMENT

LA BANCAROTTA

Politecnico di Milano - Scenografia e Spazi della rappresentazioneScenography for the play ¨La Bancarrota¨, of Carlo Goldoni, at the Arsenale Theather, MilanoCollaboration: Lígia Corrêa da Silva, Camila Salles

The first idea conceived for this scenography was based on the line ele-ment. Since the contemporary city is composed by a spatial continuity of paths, streets and courses; the line was intended to typify the path, the connexion, the continuity and the personal relation of the charac-ters. > A concept too metaphoric and abstract.

Thus, the line evolves to concrete and spatial objects that composes the city. > LEVELS and STAIRS, elements of circulation and movement, that represents the rise and the fall, a relation that can be read through many levels.

Since one of the main pursuits was a low cost, SYNTHETIC scenography, easy to be composed, the whole composition was based on a single object: the pallet.

Pallets are simple objects that can be new or reused. The choice of ma-terial generates a low cost and sustainable solution. It’s modularity allowed the composition of scenes, spaces, furniture and even of the audience’s space itself.

PAPYRUS

Politecnico di Milano - Allestimento e MuseografiaUrban intervention at Corso Buenos Aires, MilanoColaboration: Lígia Corrêa, Camila Sales, Mehtap Us, Gokhan Kiyici

This project´s theme is all about how to relate the city of Milan, Italy, with nature. Milan is known as the city of fashion, design and consequently it is also the city of consumerism. Home of some of Europe´s most famous shopping streets, the number one touristic activity is go shopping.

What most people do not realize is that unbridled consumption of pro-ducts generates unbridled consumption of natural resources, meaning our planet.

The project goal is to encourage conscious consumption by turning it into something measurable and perceptible. The idea is to make people notice the problem by seeing all the shopping receipts that are issued every day in an enormous amount.

For that it is used translucent containers spread on famous shopping streets of Milan.

Representing the natural resources that are being consumed, pens that have written on them words like water, trees, animals, are placed inside the containers from where people can take them. The object pen was chosen because it is something useful, that can be recycled and won’t be disposed soon. The Project Papyrus website is also written on the pens.

Thus, little by little the receipt containers are being filled, while the na-tural resources ones are being emptied. The problem becomes comple-tely clear.

Cardboard tubes are used to structure the objects. The composition of the tubes with different heights reminds the passersby of a plant gro-wing in the middle of the sidewalk.
