space theory context
This project is designed to react to and counter the experiential implication of trying to place one who has no place. The Tourist Hyper-Center responds by creating place that is always out of place. Individuals are not able to center themselves within the specific context created by the Hyper-Center, keeping tourists, tourists. The tourists experience an inability to define the spaces of the project as here or there, keeping them placeless and creating authentic place for those who have no place.

THEORY
CONCEPT
Urbanism is considered the most efficient answer for the need of residential space, especially when it is compared to the suburban solution. However, people are going to live where they feel most comfortable. The urban life style is not everyone’s favorite choice as it can be seen in America’s love for the suburbs. The suburban style is comfortable for many people. If people are choosing not to move to urban environments, then urbanism cannot be the only viable solution to solve our inefficient suburban style of living. This project will reduce the effects of sprawl by allowing suburban space to grow up instead of out, offering a different, more sustainable solution to our need for residential space.

America has a habit of always looking for the quickest solution to a problem. America has a big problem. Its people are very unhealthy. The solution is not a problem you can solve quickly. But what if a light rail station provided users with daily, easy access to a healthier lifestyle? This new light rail stop is also a reccenter, library and small performance theater. The program will constanly entice people to expand their own knowledge to help find a healthier lifestyle.
