MECHANICAL SPECIFICATIONS

GENERAL

1. BID INSTRUCTIONS: CONTRACTORS SHALL PROVIDE

BE EQUAL TO ITEMS LISTED IN DESIGN BASIS.

2. CONTRACTORS SHALL REFERENCE APPLICABLE

HAMPTON INN DESIGN CRITERIA STANDARDS FOUND

AT HILTON.COM AND SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL

REQUIREMENTS.

3. PRIOR TO PROCUREMENT CONTRACTOR SHALL

SUBMIT TO ARCHITECT FULL SUBMITTALS FOR ALL

ENERGY CONSUMING OR PRODUCING ITEMS AND

FOR ALL DUCT ACCESSORIES, INSULATION, VAV

BOXES, REGISTERS, GRILLES, DIFFUSERS AND

LOUVERS. SUBMITTALS SHALL BE DELINEATED WITH

TAGS INDICATED ON PRINTS, CONTRACTORS NAME,

PROJECT NAME. CLEARLY INDICATE ALL MODEL

NUMBERS AND ALL ACCESSORIES AND OPTIONS

BEING PROVIDED. SUBMISSIONS SHALL BE IN PDF

FORMAT. ALL EQUIPMENT AND ITEMS SHALL BE PER

DESIGN BASIS OR APPROVED EQUAL. ENGINEER

RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT ANY SUBSTITUTE

ITEM.

4. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE TO VISIT THE

SITE TO EXAMINE ALL CONDITIONS THAT MAY IN ANY

WAY AFFECT THE EXECUTION OF HIS WORK. HE

SHALL ALSO EXAMINE THE DRAWINGS AND

SPECIFICATIONS FOR OTHER BRANCHES OF WORK

MAKING REFERENCE TO THEM FOR DETAILS OF

EXISTING BUILDING CONDITIONS. NO EXTRAS WILL

BE ALLOWED FOR FAILURE TO INCLUDE ALL

REQUIRED WORK IN THE BID. CONTRACTOR SHALL

GUARANTEE ALL LABOR AND MATERIALS ENTERING

INTO CONTRACT FOR A PERIOD OF ONE (1) YEAR

FROM DATE OF ACCEPTANCE.

5. THE DRAWINGS IN THIS SECTION ARE

DIAGRAMMATIC AND ARE NOT INTENDED TO DEFINE

EXACT QUANTITIES, LOCATIONS OR CODIFIED

REQUIREMENTS. DRAWINGS SHOW GENERAL

INTENT OF SYSTEMS. M.C. SHALL PROVIDE AND PAY

FOR ALL REQUIRED PERMITS.

6. UPON COMPLETION OF THE MECHANICAL

INSTALLATION, DEMONSTRATE TO THE ENGINEER

AND THE OWNER'S SATISFACTION THAT THE

SYSTEMS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE

WITH THE DRAWINGS, SPECIFICATIONS AND

APPLICABLE CODES. DEMONSTRATE THE DYNAMIC

OPERATION OF EACH SYSTEM. VERIFY PROPER

OPERATION OF EQUIPMENT, FILTERS ARE CLEAN

AND COMPONENTS OF THE SYSTEM ARE INSTALLED

AND ADJUSTED IN FULL ACCORDANCE WITH

MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDATIONS.

7. ALL WORK SHALL BE IN FULL ACCORDANCE WITH

CURRENT OHIO NON-RESIDENTIAL MECHANICAL

8. MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE

EMPLOYEES ARE MEETING AND DOCUMENTING ALL

OSHA AND JOB SPECIFIC SAFETY REQUIREMENTS AS

REQUIRED BY LAW AND BY CONTRACT. PERSONAL

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT SHALL BE PROVIDED AND

UTILIZED AS REQUIRED.

9. MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL PAY ALL FINES

LEVIED BY OSHA FOR FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH

OSHA REQUIREMENTS. MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR

SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE TO PROVIDE ALL REQUIRED

CUTTING AND PATCHING FOR INSTALLATION OF

MECHANICAL WORK.

10. MECHANICAL CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE

TO COORDINATE LOCATION OF CONDENSATE

DISPOSAL POINTS (HUB DRAINS & FLOOR DRAINS)

WITH PLUMBING CONTRACTOR. MECHANICAL

CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL PIPING BETWEEN

EVAPORATOR COIL CONNECTIONS AND DISPOSAL

POINT. PIPING SHALL BE SCHEDULE 40 PVC WITH

SOLVENT WELDED FITTINGS. INSTALL TRAPS AS

RECOMMENDED BY EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER.

PROVIDE CLEANOUTS IN DRAIN LINES TO FACILITATE

CLEANING OF LINES.

EQUIPMENT

1. PROVIDE EQUIPMENT AS SHOWN ON EQUIPMENT

SCHEDULES AND PLAN NOTES. SUBSTITUTIONS TO

LISTED EQUIPMENT SHALL BE AT RISK OF

CONTRACTOR. SUBSTITUTIONS SHALL ONLY BE

ALLOWED IF ITEMS ARE EQUAL IN ALL ASPECTS.

2. PROVIDE SUBMITTALS TO ELECTRICIAN AS

REQUIRED FOR COORDINATION OF ALL ELECTRICAL

POWER WIRING. INCLUDE WIRING DIAGRAMS AND

CABLING REQUIREMENTS FOR REFERENCE.

COORDINATE ALL INTERLOCKS AS NEEDED. PROVIDE

SINGLE POINT CONNECTION KITS AS NEEDED.

3. INSTALL ALL EQUIPMENT IN FULL ACCORDANCE

WITH MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDATIONS AND

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS. PROVIDE ALL

REQUIRED MOUNTING OR HOUSEKEEPING PADS.

G.C. SHALL PROVIDE LEVEL GRADE FOR EXTERIOR

MOUNTED EQUIPMENT. M.C. SHALL PROVIDE ALL

HOISTING AND RIGGING NEEDED TO SET ALL HVAC

EQUIPMENT.

4. ALL EQUIPMENT SHALL BE INSTALLED AS NEEDED

TO PREVENT OBJECTIONABLE NOISE AND/OR

VIBRATION. M.C. SHALL PROVIDE VIBRATION PADS,

SPRING ISOLATORS, ATTENUATORS AND

1. Floor-Ceiling assembly - The 1 hr fire rated solid or trussed lumber joist floor-ceiling

assembly shall be constructed of the materials and in the manner specified in the individual

L500 Series Floor - Ceiling Designs in the UL fire Resistance Directory, as summarized below:

A. Floor System - Lumber or plywood subfloor with finish floor of lumber, plywood or

floor topping mixture. Maximum diameter of floor opening is 5-1/4"

B. Wood Joists - Nominal 2 by 10 lumber joists spaced 16" o.c. with nominal 1 x 3

lumber bridging, Steel or combination lumber and steel joist, trusses or structural

wood members with bridging as required.

C. Gypsum Board - Thickness, type, number of layers and fasteners shall be as

specified in the individual Wall and Partition Design.

1.1 Chase Walls (not shown optional) - The through penetrates, item 2 may be routed through a 1

hr fire rated single, double or staggered wood stud/gypsum wallboard chase wall having a fire

rating consistent with that of the floor-ceiling assembly. The chase wall shall be constructed of

the materials and in the manner specified in tthe individual U300 Series Wall and Partition

Designs in the UL fire resistance director and shall include the following feature:

a. Flooring system- Lumber or plywood subfloor with finish floor of lumber, plywood or

Floor topping mixture as specified in the floor ceiling design. Max diam. of opening shall

be 5-1/4"

b. Wood Joist - Nominal 10" deep lumber, steel or combination lumber and steel joists,

trusses or structural wood members with bridging.

c. Gypsum board - Nom. 4 ft by

" thick as specified in the individual floor-ceiling design.

Max diam. of opening shall be 5-1/4"

2. Steel Duct - Max Nominal 4" diameter No. 28 gauge or heavier steel duct. One duct to be

within the firestop system. Diameter of openings hole sawed through flooring system and

through gypsum board ceiling to the nominal dimension of 1.25" larger than the outside

diameter of the through penetrate. Steel duct to be rigidly supported on both sides of

floor-ceiling assembly.

3. Fill void or cavity material - Fire sealant minimum 3/4" thickness of material applied within the

annulus on the top surface of the floor, Minimum 5/8" thickness of fill material applied within

the annulus on bottom suface of ceiling or lower top plate of the chase wall. Additional fill

material to be applied such that 1/8" crown is formed around the penetrating item on bottom

surface of ceiling or lower top plate of chase wall.
