• Materials & Technology, History of Art & Architecture, Building construction, Architectural Design, Technical Drawing, Structures, Art (basic water and oil colours), CADD, etc

Internship

• Project with/without a company

• Approx 4-5 months duration in the final year

• In some colleges a student may be asked to present a mini project in the 3rd year

Placements

• Conducted in the 3rd year

• Selection on the basis of Aptitude Test, GD, Interview

• Placements usually not on campus & students may have to apply independently

Eligibility

• 12 in any stream with min 50% marks

•Should have Math and English as subjects in class 12

Entrance Procedure

• NATA conducted by the National Institute of Advanced Studies and Architecture - Drawing test (2hrs) + Online aesthetic sensitivity test (1hr)

• JEE Main (Paper 2)- Drawing test + Aptitude Test + Math

Test Contents

• Written Test: Drawing & observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity

• Online test: Visualising 2D&3D objects, analytical reasoning, Architectural awareness

Preparation required

• Coaching classes not very popular

• 1 year of preparation required



How do I get in?

NATA is the common test; the scores of which all

colleges accept. But each colleges has an

independent admission procedure

NATA can be taken any number of times. However, not the best

score but the average of the scores is considered

“Students can enrol in B-Arch directly after Class 12 in the UK.

In the US it is mostly a post graduate degree. The only exception is if you go to an Art school, where you can directly study for a 5 year B Arch program - but it will be more an aesthetic program and will probably have less of the engineering part of Architecture.

Check out the curriculum at CCA ( California College of Art) for clarity on the Art college side of it.”
