AED 2.2 billion+ for the construction of an iconic five star hotel that straddles Abu Dhabi’s Formula 1 racetrack and is cloaked with

an illuminated ‘gridshell’ to provideenergy efficiencyand create astriking landmark.

TRANSFORMING DELIVERY

The development is a five star signature hotel builtalongside and over the Yas Marina Racing Circuit, developed by Aldar, designedby New York's Asymptote and built by Al Futtaim Carillion LLC with the support of more than 70 specialist subcontractors from

around the world.The jewel-like design includes the gridshell as an atmospheric-like veil over the two towers and alink bridge that passes above the

Formula 1 track. The breathtaking architecture 'performs' as both anenvironmentally responsive solution and avisual spectacle and event.

The gridshell contains 5,096 individually sized panes of glass and 2,100 tonnes of support steel. The 5,389 custom-made LED

lights can be programmed to provide stunning illumination & optical effects.

The total floor area is 105,000m2, delivered through a frame of 68,000 m3 concrete, with 17,500 tonnes of reinforcement used in

the concrete frame.

CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE• Delivery of a significant landmark destination on Yas Island for Abu Dhabi and the UAE at large.

• The project was completed in just89 weeks, working 7 days a week and 24 hours a day.

• The hotel's iconic image now features prominently in the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority's main publications and presentations.
