Cost ManagementMega LNG Project, Australia

Across Asia today Arcadis is currently providing cost management solutions for a number of IOCs on multi-billion contracts in both the upstream and downstream sectors. We have an outstanding track record in helping Oil & Gas clients to accurately scope, manage and reduce costs on their mostimportant capital projects.

$20bn LNG project, Australia

Arcadis was appointed to provide cost management services on a multi-billion LNG project. The scheme included the construction of one of the largest offshore facilities in the industry, a state-of-the-art onshore processing facility and a huge pipeline uniting both assets.

By carrying out a thorough review of EPC costs and claims, including module fabricator measurements and star rates, and benchmarking these against our industry-leading cost rates data, we were able to reduce the client’s total CAPEX spend by over USD 1bn over a five-year period.

Decommissioning of North Sea Oil platforms

Confidential Client

ImagineWe were engaged by a major IOC to estimate the costs of decommissioning a number of offshore platforms in the UK North Sea

ApproachFirst we studied the decommissioning work processes, and created an optimized plan to minimize the amount of work required whilst ensuring safe and sustainable decommissioning. Using our extensive database of Norms for offshore decommissioning & maintenance work, we were able to provide meaningful estimates of the total cost of decommissioning for a number of scenarios and options

ResultThe client was able to compare the out-turn costs of a number of different approaches to the decommissioning process and was hence able to adopt the optimal approach.

Often times, plans must be adjusted to accommodate field conditions or a change in conditions.

Field Monitoring / HSSE OversightThe following items are typically completed during preparations for a well plugging event:• Well Reconnaissance.• Complete well casing and / or borehole

inspections using down-hole equipment.• Route access roads around sensitive

receptors.• Develop plans for erosion and

sedimentation control; and spill control.• Develop contingency plans. The following items are good practices during field monitoring:• Air monitoring.• Monitor aquatic resources that may be in

close proximity to the work site.• Observe for evidence of potential gas

migration.• Report spills and manage wastes

diligently.• Respect potential fire hazards.Arcadis’ recommendations during well plugging operations is tried and true.
