Arbor Day was invented by a guynamed J. Sterling Morton. He and hiswife were one of the pioneers thatmoved to Nebraska, where theystarted the holiday, and they

immediately started planting trees

Where it was found….

It was found in Nebraska in the mid1840s. During that time, when pioneers hasmoved out to settle there, they found veryfew trees to build houses of to burn fuel,

and there was also no shade from the sunor wind and the crops didn’t grow. So that’s

when J. Sterling Morton came in to plantsome trees and develop a better

community.

Since when...

Arbor day is a holiday that iscelebrated across the United States.It has been an official holiday ever

since 1882. The date was changed toMorton’s birthday which is April 22nd.Today almost every state celebratesthis holiday. Some states celebrate

the holiday on a different day.
